two key areas: Coaching and Offi cials. Also underlined the
importance of each NF’s responsibility for education in the
area of Clean Sport. The FEI Coaching Course System is
having a major impact towards the Group’s goal of raising
standards. South Africa was especially thanked for hosting
the majority of these courses. The education and promotion
of Offi cials in the region is diffi cult as there are few FEI
shows or Seminars where offi cials can gain experience;
- asked that the FEI be consistent in a date for Rule changes
in all disciplines. It was also deemed necessary for changes
to be published with suffi cient notice so that NFs have time
to inform all offi cials and stakeholders of amendments and
new rules;
- reported that the Challenges were still the major
benchmark for assessment of the Group’s standards. Two
nations joined the Dressage Challenge and one nation the
Jumping Challenge. Thanked the NF Chile for again hosting
the important FEI Jumping Challenge Finals. Four riders
represented the Group. A rider from Zimbabwe was Reserve
Champion. It was agreed that holding Finals was critically
important for the Group. Thanked the Jumping Committee
for their help with and support of the Youth Olympic
Games;
- discussed ongoing diffi culties with regional and
international movements of horses. Restrictions and
veterinary requirements by Governments in the Group
change constantly and were mostly to the detriment of
the importation/exportation of horses. The increased use
and acceptance of Group IX (for inter-regional movement)
and FEI passports would make a difference. The continued
assistance of the FEI Veterinary Department will be sought
to help fi nd solutions to problems in this area;
- strongly reiterated the Group’s thanks to the FEI, especially
all the staff at Headquarters, for their unfailing support and
assistance to the Group in all areas.
