Largest engineering and
avionics project on King
Air 350C
Jet Aviation Zurich recently completed its
largest engineering and avionics project
on a King Air 350C. It was the first of
its kind to be performed in Europe. The
six-month project included an extensive
avionics installation with state-of-the-art
systems.
The client brought the 14-year old King
Air 350C aircraft, which is used for Swiss
topography mapping, to Jet Aviation
Zurich. The purpose was to remove the
entire analog avionics system and
cabling and replace it with a fully digital
installation.
Under the guidance of the company’s
engineering department, plans were developed
based on the latest technical
standards and according to Swiss and
US commercial aviation regulations. Jet
Aviation’s extensive know-how of servicing
King Air aircraft for many years and
the in-depth preparation on the engineering
side paid off. A team of up to six
avionics specialists worked on the aircraft
over several months.
“Our client was extremely happy that we
completed such an extraordinary project
ahead of deadline and congratulated us
on our outstanding engineering and avionics
installation work,” says Thomas
Rimml, senior vice president and general
manager Jet Aviation Zurich.
Midcoast Aviation first to perform 8C inspection on a Global landing gear
Midcoast Aviation has become the first
non-original equipment manufacturer
(OEM) to perform 8C inspections on
Global landing gear. “Being a Global
service center, we know it simply makes
sense for us to expand our horizons and
continue to offer leading-edge services
to our Global operators,” says Jay Roever,
Midcoast Aviation senior manager, accessories.
The 120-month inspection takes about
six weeks to perform, and there are about
30 to 40 aircraft due each year. Midcoast
Aviation now performs these inspections
on Globals and Challenger 600s, 601s
and 604s. Roever adds, “We’re pleased
to offer one-stop shopping for Global
operators.”
