• boilerplate text reading order will default to the canvas Direction property<br />

• If a block spans multiple canvases, keep the canvas Direction property the same for all canvases,<br />

unless you intend to have part of the block displayed with a different Direction.<br />

• In the <strong>Form</strong> <strong>Builder</strong>, if you change the canvas Direction property while the Layout Editor is open,<br />

the change will not take place until you reopen the Layout Editor.<br />

Direction (Check Box)<br />

Specifies the layout direction of a check box, including:<br />

• the position of the box relative to the text<br />

• reading order of check box label<br />

• initial keyboard state when the check box receives input focus<br />

Direction (<strong>Form</strong>)<br />

Specifies the layout direction of a form. Setting the form-level Direction property to Default lets the<br />

form inherit layout direction from the natural writing direction of the language specified in the NLS<br />

environment variable.<br />

<strong>Form</strong> Usage Notes:<br />

• If you are developing a bilingual application that must run in both Right-To-Left and Left-To-Right<br />

directions, use the Default value.<br />

• During testing, set Direction to either Right-To-Left or Left-To-Right, to test your form in Local or<br />

Roman direction. Before generating the final executable, return the setting to Default.<br />

• If your application must run in one direction only, choose the corresponding value.<br />

Direction (List Item)<br />

Specifies the layout direction of the list items in both popup lists and combo boxes, including:<br />

• position of the scroll bar<br />

• alignment of list text<br />

• reading order of list text<br />

• initial keyboard state when the list item gains input focus<br />

Direction (Radio Group)<br />

Specifies layout direction of the radio buttons of a group (position of the circle relative to the text),<br />

including:<br />

• reading order of text<br />

• initial keyboard state when the radio group gains input focus<br />

Direction (Windows)<br />

Specifies layout direction of the window object, including:<br />

• layout direction of the menu<br />

• reading order of any text displayed within the window area that is not part of an object that has its<br />

own Direction property (for example, the window title)<br />
