Ludlow & the
Shropshire Hills

Itinerary
Day 1: Our door to door service
makes for a relaxed departure, after
which we make our way to Ludlow
arriving late afternoon. We enjoy a
welcome drink before dinner,
afterwards a local guide gives an
introductory talk on Ludlow and
Shropshire.
Day 2: Today we are joined by a
guide for a tour around
Herefordshire’s black and white village
trail, passing villages such as
Knighton, Pembridge, Eardisland and
Weobley. We also include a visit to the
historic city of Hereford with its
magnificent cathedral, delightful
architecture and lots of interesting
little side streets. In the evening at the
hotel there will be an Antiques
Roadshow. You can bring along a
small item of curiosity for discussion
with a local antiques dealer.
Day 3: Our first stop today is in
Craven Arms for a visit to the Secret
Hills Discovery Centre, giving an
insight into the lovely Shropshire Hills.

Part of the visit includes a simulated
balloon flight over the Shropshire Hills.
We continue via Church Stretton to
Shrewsbury, almost an island caught
in a loop of the River Severn. The
town features breezy black and white
timbered houses so typical of the
Welsh Marches. The town has a wide
selection of shops, olde style inns,
traditional pubs and modern
restaurants.
Day 4: This morning you may like to
join us for a short ride out of the town
to The Ludlow Food Centre, a
showcase for local foodstuffs, some of
which are produced on the premises.
A talk will be given and some samples
are available for tasting. We then
return to Ludlow where the rest of the
day is free to explore this lovely town.
Tonight will feature a Murder Mystery
evening at the hotel when a local
amateur group will present a plot for
the sleuths among the group to solve.
Day 5: After breakfast sadly we must
leave to begin our homeward journey,
where our door to door service will be
waiting to take you home upon arrival.
The famous black and white timber façade of this exclusive 40 room
hotel dates from 1619 and its interior features do not disappoint –
Huge stone fireplaces, dark wooden panelling and beams all add
character to this lovely building. All en suite rooms have TV, hospitality
tray, hairdryer and lift access.

Itinerary
Day 1: Following your home pickup
we travel north to Yorkshire, arriving at
the Esplande Hotel.
Day 2: We spend today exploring the
historic walled city of York. Take the
opportunity to visit the National
Railway Museum, the Jorvik Centre,
walk the city walls or explore the
narrow streets and alleyways around
the Shambles. No visit to York is
complete without seeing the
magnificent York Minster (entry not
included). Whilst in York we include a
guided panoramic coach tour of the
city.
Day 3: A free day to discover the
varied attractions of Scarborough and
enjoy the delightful promenade in the
Belvedere Gardens. Take a short walk
to the town centre and shops, or
amble down to the beaches of South
Bay, or the busy little harbour. Explore
the town with its indoor markets and
antique shops, or walk up to
Scarborough’s fortress castle and
enjoy the views across the bays.
Day 4: This morning we head north
following the coast road to Whitby, the
famous fishing port that was once the

home of Captain James Cook. High
above the harbour stands the 7th
century Abbey, the inspiration for
Bram Stoker’s Dracula (entry not
included). We have time to wander
around the narrow streets and busy
harbour side before leaving over
scenic North Yorkshire Moors to
Goathland, a thriving tourist
destination which is the setting for the
TV series ‘Heartbeat’.
Day 5: After breakfast we make our
way back to Norfolk with suitable
stops en route, where our door to door
service will be waiting to take you
home.
