Itinerary
Day 1: Following your home pickup
we make our way to Darlington with
suitable stops en route, arriving late
afternoon.
Day 2: We begin with a drive to
Shildon. Here we visit Locomotion, an
outpost of the National Railway
Museum in York, and have chance to
view the exhibits and memorabilia
from the early days of railways – this
area was the birthplace of rail. From
here we head for the market town of
Barnard Castle. Known as ‘Barny’ to
the locals, we have time to explore the
town. You can see where Dickens
immortalised ‘Dothboys Hall’, take a
look at Cromwell’s refuge or browse
round the antique shops. Next we are
on our way over the hills to Weardale
and Stanhope, where we find the
Durham Dales Visitor Centre. We have
time to explore or relax in the tea
room before we make our way back to
Darlington.
Day 3: A full day at the awardwinning
Beamish. Take the tram and
travel back in time to 1913,
experience the transport, town, shops,
houses and farm, all with costumed
staff to authentically recreate the
scene. You can visit a drift coalmine
and look at life in 1825 by taking the
pockerley railway to the manor.
Day 4: This morning we are off to
Northallerton, a delightful North
Yorkshire market town with an
excellent selection of shops for you to
explore. From here we drive to nearby
Leeming Bar where we join the
Wensleydale Railway for a ride
through beautiful scenery, passing
lovely little villages as we make our
way to Leyburn, where we take a
break for lunch. This afternoon we
finish with a visit to historic Richmond,
with its 11th century castle and huge
market square. The town is well worth
exploring. Afterwards we return to the
hotel.
Day 5: After breakfast we make our
way back to Norfolk with suitable stops
en route where our door to door service
will be waiting to take you home.

The 3 star rated Blackwell Grange Hotel is a beautiful 17th century
mansion peacefully situated in nine acres of its own grounds and
surrounded by a scenic 18-hole golf course. Building commenced in
1693 and was finally completed in 1717, the hotel was a private house
until 1953.Hotel facilities include leisure club with heated indoor
swimming pool, spa and saunas. All bedrooms are en suite and have
television, radio, telephone, hairdryer and tea & coffee making
facilities. The hotel has a lift.

Itinerary
Day 1: From your local joining point
we make our way to South Yorkshire
for our 3 night stay.
Day 2: Our first stop today is the
unusually named Pot House Hamlet, a
small retail complex reached by an
ancient wagon way alongside
Silkstone Beck. Enjoy a coffee in the
Potting Shed Café or treat yourself
from the ice cream parlour. Moving on
we drive across the Pennines and
descend into picturesque
Longdendale, with its five reservoirs
and the trackbed of the old Woodhead
rail route alongside. We come to
Glossop with its Victorian mills, our
lunch stop today. You have time to
wander around the town before we
are on our way over the notorious
Snake Pass taking us into Derbyshire
and Ladybower Reservoir, practice
ground for the Dambusters raids on

Germany in WW2. The afternoon stop
is in delightful Castleton, a popular
Peak District village.
Day 3: This morning we start with a
visit to beautiful Wentworth Castle
Gardens. Renowned for its flower
displays we have guided tours of the
gardens and the house. The parklands
cover over 500 acres. Time for
refreshments in the café before we
are on our way to learn where the
expression “off your trolly” came
from - the superb Trolleybus
Eggstravangana at Sandtoft. There will
be a chance to take a ride on one of
the many vintage trollybuses , and
even drive one on the ‘have a go’
simulator, there are 1960’s window
displays, motorbus tours and much
more.
Day 4: After breakfast we leave and
begin our homeward journey with
suitable stops en route.

The AA 3 Star Best Western Ardsley House Hotel was once the former
home of one of Yorkshire’s most prominent families, and was classically
built of mellow local stone in the late eighteenth century. Today it is a

with swimming pool and gym. All bedrooms are en suite, with
television, telephone, hairdryer and tea and coffee making facilities.
