Logging levels<br />

You can choose one of five logging levels, as shown in Table 40.<br />

Client context log settings can be set using:<br />

• Start-up parameters at client startup<br />

• LOG-MANAGER system handles in client applications<br />

<strong>Server</strong> context settings can be set using:<br />

Connecting a schema holder<br />

0 (None) Logs no entries. This is equivalent to turning logging off.<br />

1 (Errors) Logs <strong>OpenEdge</strong> error messages. This includes all error messages<br />

and is unrelated to the entry types specified. Errors continue to be<br />

logged at all higher levels.<br />

2 (Basic) Log entry type determines the logged in<strong>for</strong>mation. Each log entry<br />

type generates at least some output. This is the default.<br />

3 (Verbose) Log entry type determines the logged in<strong>for</strong>mation.<br />

4 (Extended) Log entry type determines the logged in<strong>for</strong>mation.<br />

• The -Dsrv switch at client startup or during a database connection.<br />

• DSLOG-MANAGER system handle in client applications<br />

Setting all other <strong>Data</strong><strong>Server</strong> log settings (clientlog, dslog, numlogfiles,<br />

logthreshold and logappend)<br />

• Start-up parameters at client startup. These settings are shared with the server<br />

context when <strong>Data</strong><strong>Server</strong>s are connected self-service.<br />

Note: Of these, -dslog is not shared but simply passed onto the server.<br />

• Ubroker.properties specified <strong>for</strong> agents at App<strong>Server</strong> startup.<br />

Note: App<strong>Server</strong> client context does not include the ability to <strong>for</strong>ward a<br />

<strong>Data</strong><strong>Server</strong> log file name onto the server context.<br />

• LOG-MANAGER system handles in client applications<br />
