Guidelines <strong>for</strong> using the <strong>Data</strong><strong>Server</strong><br />

Migrating an <strong>OpenEdge</strong> database to an MS <strong>SQL</strong> <strong>Server</strong><br />

data source<br />

You can migrate an <strong>OpenEdge</strong> database to an MS <strong>SQL</strong> <strong>Server</strong> data source.<br />

To set up and use the <strong>Data</strong><strong>Server</strong>:<br />

1. Install the <strong>Data</strong><strong>Server</strong> components on the machines that your configuration<br />

requires.<br />

2. If you chose not to use the bundled ODBC driver, purchase and install the ODBC<br />

driver software on the machine that will execute the server component.<br />

3. Verify connectivity between ODBC and the MS <strong>SQL</strong> <strong>Server</strong> database.<br />

4. Run the <strong>OpenEdge</strong> DB to MS <strong>SQL</strong> <strong>Server</strong> migration utility.<br />
