2.3 Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Arts and Science The Bachelor of Applied Science (B.S.) is a terminal Bachelor's degree with a technical foundation. It is primarily a mobility degree for students who wish to upgrade their skills and credentials or to qualify them to take on greater responsibilities or seek advancement or entrepreneurial success, at a higher level than their technical training alone allows. The degree is awarded upon satisfactory completion of a minimum of 182 credits. Concentrations may be disciplinary or interdisciplinary, and some may require prerequisite course work. AUK offers concentrations in 5 areas of study. 2.4.1 Concentration: Economics and Statistics (36 Credits) The economics concentration emphasizes the quantitative analytical approach to dealing with economic problems in both the public and private sectors, providing students with marketable skills and the intellectual foundation for career growth. We prepare students by developing communication, computer, and management skills in addition to economic reasoning and quantitative abilities. Students in the program are involved in a wide variety of management and analytical positions, both during co-op and after graduation. Through this focused area of study, students develop the skills and concepts needed to become effective leaders, ethical decision-makers, and creative innovators. The management curriculum provides both depth and flexibility in its offerings so that students can maximize their educational experience.
