academic specializations. This course highlights the processes and practices of<br />
written expression and the production of research, whether <strong>in</strong> the sciences or the arts<br />
or the humanities. Faculty design specific approaches to the study of the literature of<br />
a discipl<strong>in</strong>e, field, or program. Students have the opportunity to develop a critical<br />
understand<strong>in</strong>g of important conversations with<strong>in</strong> a particular area of study. How a<br />
field or discipl<strong>in</strong>e is located with<strong>in</strong> a larger culturally-diverse context is also<br />
highlighted. Depend<strong>in</strong>g on the focus of the <strong>in</strong>structor, the course will engage one or<br />
more modes of discipl<strong>in</strong>ary expression(s) such as films, written texts, photographs<br />
