BRODIE BISHOP RECEIVES ROBERT SHANNON FOUNDATION AWARD
The president of the Federation of Historic Motoring Clubs of
SA, Steve Henderson, attended our October Meeting together
with Arthur Doeke from the Federation. During the meeting
Steve presented Club Member, Brodie Bishop, with a cheque
from the Robert Shannon Foundation as encouragement for his
work in restoring a 1923 Fiat 501 Tourer. Brodie responded in
a suitable manner. He comes from a family of Historic Vehicle
enthusiasts, and a photo of their vehicles including the Fiat is
shown here. The cars are a 1975 Fiat 130 Berlina, a 1925
Morris Bullnose Cowley and the 1923 Fiat 501 tourer. A
colour photo of the Fiat appears on the back page.
Unfortunately, the Editor was not aware of this presentation occurring and no photos were taken to memorise
the occasion.
Congratulations to Brodie on receiving this award, it is a credit to him and also a matter of pride for our club.
Following are the details of the Robert Shannon Foundation
The Robert Shannon Foundation was established in 2003 to perpetuate the memory of Robert Shannon,
founder of Shannons Insurance, who died unexpectedly in March 2000.
Robert was an avid classic car enthusiast, who especially enjoyed his 1930 Invicta S Type. He was a strong
supporter of the historic motoring movement and was concerned that it was not attracting enough younger
people, particularly in the areas of the preservation and restoration of classic vehicles.
AIM: After the success of the Shannons 2001 National Motoring Tour, the Australian Historic Motoring
Federation (AHMF) established the Robert Shannon Foundation. The AHMF is the national body representing
classic and historic vehicle clubs in all states and territories. The purpose of the Foundation is to encourage
people under the age of 30 to become involved in the restoration and preservation of veteran, vintage, postvintage,
historic 50’s, historic 60’ and historic 70’s vehicles up to 30 years old. The Foundation may (1) help
with the purchase of specialist tools or equipment; (2) assist with the actual cost of restoration work,
(3)contribute toward TAFE or other fees or (4) contribute toward any project considered worthwhile by the
Trustees.
ELIGIBLITY: Any person or group of people under the age of thirty years and engaged in studying
automotive restoration and preservation or actively working on historic vehicles is eligible to nominate for a
grant.
The Bay to Birdwood is an official event of the GVVCVC and as such counts towards your official
attendance at club events. However no sign on sheets were available at the event so attendances have not
been recorded. If you participated in the Bay to Birdwood with your vehicle as an official entrant and you
wish for your attendance to be recorded please advise membership secretary Ron Stevens ph 0417 848 541
THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT YOUR HISTORIC REGISTRATION:
Submitted by Allan Kempster
All Club members should know the laws covering Historic Registration, and abide by them. Those who flout
the laws can be fined (see article below) and bring disrepute to the Club.
If you have a vehicle which does not comply with the Code Of Practice for Historic Vehicles* then that
vehicle can not be on Historic Registration, and should be on full registration to be driven on the road.
Historic Vehicle Log Books must be validated every year by one of the Club Registrars. If your Log Book
has not been validated, your vehicle is not registered. Each Log Book is valid for 3 years (provided that it is
validated each year), and after 3 years a new Log Book must be issued, even if the Log Book is only partly
used. If you are currently using a Log Book issued earlier than 2009, then your vehicle is classified as not
being registered.
Please read the Code of Practice* and make your self familiar with what is required for your own benefit and
for the Club’s benefit. You may not agree with everything, but rules are rules and must be adhered to.
(* Code of Practice for Historic Vehicles, Prescribed Left Hand Drive Vehicles, and Street Rod Vehicles
under the Conditional Registration Scheme Effective 1 July 2012, issued by the Government of South
Australia, Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure. Hard copies are available from the Club
Secretary or the Code may be viewed online at
http://www.sa.gov.au/upload/franchise/Transport,%20travel%20and%20motoring/Registration/code_of_prac
tice_historic.pdf . Note that Gawler Veteran, Vintage and Classic Vehicle Club is unable to validate Street
Rod Vehicles under this Code of Practice)
Part 3 para 11.7 of the Code of Practice defines the Responsibilities of Scheme Vehicle Owners, and you
should make yourself fully aware of these responsibilities. A copy of this section is published in this edition
of the Journal at Page 7.
One of the responsibilities is that you must cancel registration and return the Log Book to the Club Registrar
if you sell or dispose of a vehicle (including giving it to a family member). The Club Registrars would also
like to know if you have laid up a vehicle and have not renewed registration. If you have disposed of or laid
up a vehicle please let one of the Registars know. Allan Kempster 8562 8651, Norman Matthews 8254 3569,
or John Drage H 8523 4939, M 0404 025 181
Another responsibility is that you must maintain financial membership of an approved club. Members are
reminded that under Bylaw 001 of the GVVCVC they must attend at least 3 Club Events per year to maintain
membership. To date this year, over 40% of members have not been recorded as attending any events, so
please consider your commitment to the club in this responsibility. It may affect continuity of your Historic
Vehicle Registration.
The following article was published in Restored Cars #215 Nov-Dec 2012
“TRAFFIC CAMERAS AND LOGBOOK WARNING
Here is a story worth noting of a person not filling in his Historic Car logbook. Someone in authority turned up at his
door to check his logbook in relation to three traffic camera photographs showing him out and about. The dates on the
photographs had no logbook entries. A $600 fine was levied for each failure to enter the daily use. It is easy to forget to
fill in a daily entry, particularly if the logbook is in the glovebox and you are on a rally. Hang your logbook on the
steering wheel or shifter at the end of each day. You could save yourself a lot of money.”
The article does not identify which state this occurred in but it should
be noted that in South Australia the police can check your registration
number whilst on the road and you could be pulled over at any time for
a log book check.
The monitoring cameras are getting even trickier. The one on the left
has a rear facing camera which can capture you as you are approaching
it as distinct from most who capture you after you have passed.
2. A member recently called the above unidentified member to tow him home with a suspected fuel blockage.
Interestingly they managed to get the car running when it was home and it sat there gurgling away merrily with just a
hesitation when the accelerator was activated. Owner was convinced there was a fuel blockage, despite having fitted an
in-line filter, as this had happened on the previous run the car had been out on (yep; towed home on that occasion too).
Hmmmm?
Outcome - although he was carrying spare fuel it is a good idea to ensure there is actually some in the tank, at
least more than the few dribbles it was able to idle on!!
CODE OF PRACTICE
Responsibilities of Scheme Vehicle Owners
Extract From Code of Practice for Historic Vehicles, Prescribed Left Hand Drive Vehicles, and Street Rod Vehicles under the Conditional
11.7 The owners of a conditionally registered vehicle must
abide by the following conditions:-
• maintain a financial membership of an approved club;
book;
• carry the conditionally registered vehicle’s log book in
the vehicle while driving on a road or road related area;
• not drive, or allow anyone else to drive, the conditionally
registered vehicle on the road for fee, hire or reward;
• not drive the conditionally registered vehicle on a road
or road related area if it does not comply with this code of
practice;
to the club’s authorised person (fair wear and tear is
accepted);
• not drive the conditionally registered vehicle on a road
or road related area unless an entry is made in the log
book (the log book entry must be completed before the
make short journeys without recording the trip in the
vehicle’s log book;
the appropriate vehicle exemption documentation
that permits the registration and use of a prescribed
left hand drive vehicle or street rod vehicle on
roadways;
• present their vehicle/s for an inspection upon the
and, detailing any modifications that have been made
to their vehicle since the last declaration and/or
inspection of their vehicle; Note - log books will not
be certified by the club’s authorised person until a
Statutory Declaration is received and the required
inspection has been performed.
• Present the vehicle to the club’s authorised person
for an inspection if any modifications have been
made to the vehicle to determine if the vehicle is still
eligible for the scheme.
• Cancel the conditional registration of the vehicle
when a change of ownership of a conditionally
registered vehicle occurs or when the owner of the
vehicle is no longer a financial member of a club.
returned to the issuing club for cancellation.•
Run Reports
Run organisers are requested to nominate someone on the run to provide an article for the Journal, and also someone to
report on the run to meetings (preferably a separate person for each). A report sheet is available to assist in reporting
and is on the web site home page by clicking the “Run report template” button . Reports should include some statistics
on number of cars and people on the run plus information of a general nature. Photos of the run are earnestly sought by
Motorfest run: Around the Houses Wednesday 26 th September.
This run was organised by the GVVCVC
and involved 21 vehicles with 40 people.
The club was well represented on this run.
There were 2 vehicles from Queensland, an
Austin 7 van and a 1934 MG owned by
Tonty Basham which was driven from
Cairns (3420km).
Apparently the run was thoroughly enjoyed
by all, thanks to Trevor Unsworth,
The Bay to Birdwood. Sunday 30 th November by Trevor Unsworth
The premier motoring event in Aust, The Bay to Birdwood Run was a most successfull
run. With bad weather threatening only a few light sprinkles couldn’t dampen a
fantastic motoring event.
Crowds were down but the usual atmosphere was encouraging to the drivers along the
entire route. Trevor Unsworth debuted his 1916 Willys Overland model 75 tourer with
new member George Cooke as navigator, and it didn’t miss a beat all day.-------
George has a Holden FB ute under restoration and attends our restoration work shops
learning skills demonstrated on the Triumph.
The GVV&CVC had a good representation of 18 vehicles in the entry list of over 1200
vehicles.
I saw several of our members and a few vehicles but unfortunately only had the
opportunity to chat to a few.
terrific set of Bay to Birdwood photos on the web, covering every vehicle on the run.
Vintage Car Run Wednesday 17 th October By Bruce and Anne Williams
12 vehicles went on this run organised by Geoff and Jean Boundy. The weather
was great, around 21degrees The first stop was at the Angle Vale School where
hundreds of students took great interest in the assorted cars . Murals on school
buildings were featuring the famous late Max Fatchen who was educated there and
supported this school. The next stop was at the Virginia nursery complex where
we enjoyed a good lunch and had a look around.
David Moule had overheating problems with his Dodge Buckboard which was
caused by a missing fan belt drive pulley. He decided to proceed back and after a
midway coffee stop for cooling purposes was able to get back home O.K.
We all had a good day and thanks to the Boundys for their organisation of the day.
Attendees included: Tony Roberts Nash Ambassador, Geoff Francis EH Holden
ute, David Moule Dodge buckboard, Alby Gray 1929 marquete, Jean Boundy
SPARROW RUN TO GUMERACHA Sunday 7 th October by Bob Carr.
36 members in 19 cars, 1 motor cycle and 1 scooter
Pam and I attended the run with Corrie Wake in his 73 Pontiac.
Arriving at TAFE carpark just after 8.00am on a brisk morning, there were many club members already
present. Just prior to the start of the run our intrepid scooter rider set off for Gumeracha via Sandy Creek,
Williamstown, and Forreston, whilst the majority of us travelled via Kersbrook and Chain of Ponds. The
drive through the hills was picturesque at this time of the morning, but not without its dangers, as we
encountered a large kangaroo a few kilometres east of Kersbrook, intent on jumping across the road in front
of the car.
GVVCVC Journal December 2012 Page 9
On arriving at the Rocking Horse the scooter was already parked, with the rider already parked at the table,
awaiting his breakfast, complaining about how cold it was and a broken zip [well you can only guess]
Everybody who left Gawler arrived safely at Gumeracha.
Breakfast and socialising followed, with another large car club arriving as we finished. After breakfast,
members made their own way home at their own leisure.
Hot Dog Run Sunday 28 th October By Bruce Williams, Barbara
Mc Lellan and John Drage
This was a most successful run, the Editor got 3 reports, and Sylvia has not forgiven him
for not going!
1. (Bruce) Had a good day out Weather great. About 50 members
attended. First stop was Lyndoch for morning tea and then on to
Kroemer Park which is located by the railway line just north of Tanunda.
Lunch was presented by Brian Cox and Corrie wake plus other helpers.
This lunch was Hot Dogs followed by Fruit Salad and Ice Cream. Coffee
was also available.
It was good to see a group from the Ardrossan area and from the Chrysler club.
The park is in a good position to watch other clubs going past on their motor bikes
plus the MG club was also having a big day out, also Collectable vehicles of all
descriptions were out today enjoying the beaut weather. This get together was
tops. Thanks go to those responsible for this outing
2 (Barbara) The ‘powers that be’ sent a perfect Spring day for our Club run to
Kroemer’s Park.
We assembled at TAFE carpark and left shortly after 9.30am to drive through
Lyndoch and Tanunda to the designated park which is just over the railway line
on the way to Nuriootpa. Some people stopped off at the Bakery in Lyndoch for
morning tea and a chat but Ron and I drove straight to the park to see if we could
help set up.
We arrived to find Corrie and Kaye Wake and Brian Cox had everything under
control. It seemed they had carted half of their household goods so everyone
could have a trouble free outing that ran smoothly. Waiting for us to make some
tea/coffee, were four whistling kettles boiling on a free BBQ which is under a
large clean shelter alongside a new-looking, clean toilet block in a well kept and
good sized park. There was plenty of parking area under shady trees nearby.
A well organised production line was set up for the hot dogs to be put on the cut
rolls for everyone to add their own sauces, cheese and/or onions. This was
followed by cold fruit salad and icecream. Plenty of food, plenty of chatter and
relaxation for the 57 people who attended. A great day out - many thanks to Kaye,
Corrie and Brian!
3. (John). As normal , the majority of participants gathered at the Gawler TAFE
from 9am , Corrie and Kaye Wake, Brian Cox with assistants had left prior to this
in order to set up the destination. The day was absolutely suitable with the
weather ideal and at about 9.30am we set off for the Lyndoch bakery where we
stopped for a cuppa ,some stayed in the bakery and some moved into the shaded
area by the village park, where we all gathered before the drive to the park past
Tanunda. Others had joined us by then, and we moved on some of our newer
fellows followed the older members, whom had some interesting variations to
the destination , however they eventually arrived at the correct place. It is an
interesting spot, with good covered areas and a nice playing field , shade was
available and good areas for children. . David Kernich collected the food bounty,
and had to be scolded about not selling tickets prior to the commencement of the
consumption of hot dogs, but I am sure he sold everyone tickets, There was more
than enough food in the form of Hot dogs and fillings, and the fruit salad and ice
cream was popular, with many taking seconds. A good time was had by all, with
much banter and telling of tales taking place. About 60 people present, and a good
mixture of ages. Probably 30+ vehicles again a mixture of all types. Day came to
a close about 2 ish ( we then went on to Angaston, Springton, Mt. Pleasant etc to
Handorf for a coffee and then back home to watch the F1.
November Meeting: Bring Your Car night
Despite very high temperatures a good number of members brought their vehicles to our November BBQ
and bring your car night, and some were seen for the first time. (The Editor’s Rover 3 Litre was to be a first
time but the heat beat it. Temp gauge off the scale after 15Km, so headed home and brought the back up airconditioned
vehicle!)Some of the “less seen” are shown in the photo display on the back page, and others are
in the photo display below. The band of catering volunteers did their usual great job of feeding the hordes,
thank you all!
Jowett Car Club of Australia National Rally 2012.
The Jowett Car Club held their National Rally in October based on Port Elliot. Over 70 people and 25 Jowett
manufactured vehicles attended representing all states except the ACT and NT. The Rally was run in
coordination with the Bay to Birdwood where Jowett was a featured Marque. Vehicles ranged from Pre war
twin cylinder cars through to the post war Javelins, Jupiters and Bradfords. Representatives attended from
the Jowett Club of New Zealand and from the Jowett Jupiter Club of the United Kingdom.
Two vehicles represented the Gawler Veteran Vintage and Classic Vehicle Club being the 1950 Javelin PB
Deluxe of Richard and Shirley Levison, and the 1950 PC Standard of Alvin and Sylvia Jenkin, the
Levison car carrying off two awards: best Javelin and best Jowett. Congratulations to Richard and Shirley.
A third car from Gawler also attended, restoration having been completed in the week leading up to the Bay
to Birdwood (but not in time to do the B2B run). This car is owned by Trevor (Big Trev) and Margaret
Evans.
Your editor was responsible for organising the concourse, a first for him and an education of different
standards acceptable for concessional registration across Australia. Certainly the requirement for authenticity
is nowhere near as stringent in other states as it is in SA and few of the cars in the rally would meet the SA
requirements, but the modifications make the 60 plus year old cars eminently drivable. Most interstate cars
run alternators, electronic ignition, electric cooling fans (a very practical requirement on Jowetts for use in
Australia), and modern bucket seats (no Jowett Javelins or Jupiters left the factory with bucket seats, even
the Jupiter was defined as a 3 seater with a bench seat). Compliments must go to the young enthusiast from
Perth who restored a Bradford Van over the last 2 years and ran it in by driving it over for the Rally. It is
fitted with a 5 speed Suzuki Sierra gearbox, electric waterpumps and electric fan. He says that it cruises
beautifully at 100kph. Another very keen enthusiast also drove his standard specification Bradford traytop
from Perth, maximum safe speed 75Kph (any faster and the motors tend to give up)
GVVCVC Journal December 2012 Page 11
Unusual cars of Jowett origin seen were the Targa Tasmania Jupiter. This is a somewhat modified Jowett
Jupiter which is now resident in South Australia on full rego which competes regularly in the Targa
Tasmania. It runs standard Jowett motor and gearbox with Porsche braking components and fibreglass body
panels replacing the original aluminium. The Duckett Jupiter was present. This competition car was imported
to Australia as a chassis in 1950 and skinned with a unique racing body. Also present was a recently
imported Mead Jupiter. About 15 of these were built by Richard Mead of which 3 remain, one in UK, one in
NZ and this one in Australia. Two pre war cars attended, a 1934 Flying Fox coupe tourer from Sydney and a
beautifully restored 1934 Long 7 from Perth. (this means 7HP twin cylinder with long chassis with 2 rows of
seats!)
My Willy on the London to Brighton Down Under Trevor Unsworth
On Sunday the 28th of October I participated in the 25th Anniversary running of the
London to Brighton Down Under run for Veteran vehicles in my 1916 Willys
Overland model 75.
This event was born out of initiatives taken by Gordon and Elise Gardiner and the
Vintage Sports Car Club of SA after attending a London to Brighton in the UK.
The entry list indicated 49 vehicles, however about 41 veterans including the Dutton
Talbot and 1 motor cycle assembled in the car park on London Rd. Mile End for
10:00 am flag off by the Mayor of London (City of West Torrens actually) to our morning tea stop at the
CCC clubrooms. The run sheet was brief and simple to understand and the VSCC of SA provided a team of
Marshals to cover every turn.
Following a substantial morning tea, including of course a London Bun, we proceeded to Wattle Reserve
Brighton for a display of our vehicles.
Our final lunch stop was to follow on Colley Reserve at Glenelg.
After a flawless run in the Bay To Birdwood this was my second run in the Willys and although we
completed the run the latter part and the journey home became a challenge with an increasing slipping
clutch.I have now identified incorrect clutch springs were fitted and replaced with the correct much stronger
units.
This outing was also the first coming together of the only two Willys Overland Model 75’s in SA, the other
being that of Graham Lennon.
I would like to sincerely thank the VSCC of SA, Cities of West Torrens and Holdfast Bay, National Motor
Museum Birdwood and Shannon’s for a delightful run and the perfect opportunity to use these vehicles in the
spirit intended
Thanks To The Internet – by Elaine Howson
I recently went on holiday to Canada, Alaska and Utah [where I have relatives]. As a result of hearing about
Eileen and Kevin Draper ‘s UK visit where they were welcomed by the local Model A Club and Norma and
Peter Ryan exciting participation in a Model T outing in Ireland I decided to check out the Utah Model A
Club. I found them on the internet and sent off an email with the dates that I’d be in Utah asking if they had
any events that I would be able to attend. This was followed up by an email inviting me to join The Beehive
A’s on their 4 day Fall Tour to Goblin Valley and Capital Reef National Parks. Contact numbers were
emailed to me to call them on arrival along with a detailed description of the tour. Goblin Valley had been on
my short list of places to visit!
On arrival in Utah I contacted Dave and Jo who then provided me with contact details of Don Niederhauser
who had kindly offered to take me on as a passenger in his 1931 Model A Roadster. Don made contact with
me and made arrangements to stop by to pick me up on route south with the other members who were
travelling as a group with their Model A’s in trailers. Then on Monday there was a message asking me to
give him a call regarding going to the meeting of the Salty A’s that evening. Of course I responded with a
yes please. We arrived at the meeting at a Ford Dealership where the meeting was to be held in their Board
Room! Several members drove their Model A’s to the meeting as per usual apparently. Don introduced me to
several members prior to the commencement of the meeting. During the course of the meeting Roy Van
Orman invited me to tell them how it was that I was attending the Fall Tour with the Beehive A’s. Several
members are in both clubs. The Salty A’s are based in Salt Lake City and The Beehive A’s in Ogden to the
north. I was presented with an Honourary Membership Certificate, a flag and badges for my club shirt and
Model A. I hope one day to visit again and maybe we could get some visitors too.
On Wednesday we headed south 150 miles toward Salina. At one of our regrouping stops near Fremont
Junction we collected Pine Nuts! After settling in at the motel a group of us decided on dinner at the
Mexican Restaurant next door. Others went to Mom’s Cafe.
Thursday saw us all up bright and early for breakfast at the motel
followed by a photo shoot at Presbyterian Church Museum faithfully
restored under the guidance of an elderly lady. She provided us with
morning tea and a brief history of the building, restoration and the
school that it used to be. The moderns and trailers were left at the
motels spacious car park.
Our lunch destination of Capital Reef National Park was somewhat
delayed when one of the A’s presented with severe steering issues
and a suspected broken axle as we approached the township or
Torrey. Most cars waited in the tree lined shady main street where I
purchased earrings from the Indian Trading Post. Then several went
back to lend a hand to get the car onto the tow truck that a members
relative knew of. It arrived just as the problem was solved. On
investigation the wheel fell off – the keyway was missing. Luckily a
spare was located and we were on the road again
. The club provided a packed lunch on the lawns in a lovely shady park amongst the deer. We went for a
drive through the valley which had been the small fruit growing community of Fruita. Each orchard carried
the family name plaque. The Fruita School House was complete with furnishings of the era and was built
GVVCVC Journal December 2012 Page 13
elow a towering cliff! During our drive through Capital Gorge Don’s 1931 Model A , ‘Old Blue’ began to
struggle. Fuel appeared to be coming from the carby where there was a loose bolt. Once this was tightened
we headed off toward Hanksville which is almost in the middle of nowhere, via a scenic route along a gorge
lined with varied and colourful rock formations. The Hanksville motel was basic but the Red Rock Cafe,
affiliated with it, catered to our culinary needs admirably.
Friday breakfast was just as good. The drive to Goblin Valley saw me
taken by surprise.
We drove over a rim and were met by a valley of goblins – huge mud
like looking rocks that could pass, at a distance, for children’s mud play!
Green River, famous for growing watermelons [but not green] has the
John Wesley Powell Museum. He explored the Colorado River area. On
the return trip to Salina via The San Rafael Swell Don’s car again
struggled – it appeared to be starved of fuel. With many observers and
much assistance the problem was rectified – the clamp joining the
exhaust manifold to the muffler was loose and upside down – with the
result that the carby was overheating and vaporizing the fuel.
There were no further difficulties either en route to Salina or back to Salt Lake City, though Old Blue was
tucked up safely in the trailer.
It goes without saying – I had a fabulous 4 days with the Beehive A’s and wouldn’t have missed it
for the world. I highly recommend making contact with clubs when you plan your holidays – you never
know – you may be lucky enough to be able to join them on tour to new and interesting places too.
I have a little Satnav
It sits there in my car
A Satnav is a driver's friend
It tells you where you are
I have a little Satnav
I've had it all my life
It’s better than the normal ones
My Satnav is my wife
It gives me full instructions
Especially how to drive
"It's thirty miles an hour", it says
"You're doing thirty five"
It tells me when to stop and start
And when to use the brake
And tells me that it's never ever
Safe to overtake
It tells me when a light is red
And when it goes to green
It seems to know instinctively
Just when to intervene
AUSTIN A40
A wonderful car is the Austin.
It is incredibly hard to get lost in.
There‘s four forward gears.
And a large boot for those 2 dozen beers.
The rest just has to be squashed in!
The GPS Lament
It lists the vehicles just in front
And all those to the rear
And taking this into account
It specifies my gear.
I'm sure no other driver
Has so helpful a device
For when we leave and lock the car
It still gives its advice
It fills me up with counselling
Each journey's pretty fraught
So why don't I exchange it
And get a quieter sort?
Ah well, you see, it cleans the house,
Makes sure I'm properly fed,
It washes all my shirts and things
And - keeps me warm in bed!
Despite all these advantages
And my tendency to scoff,
I do wish that once in a while
I could turn the damned thing off !!
Two Classics, One Car 101 Year Old Woman Drives A 81 Year Old Car.
There is a great video doing the rounds with the above title. The Math is a bit out as the car is a 1933 740
Packard in absolutely beautiful condition (79 years old this year), so is the woman really 101 years old.
Suffice to say that she is quite old and very sprightly, and it claimed that she still does the servicing of the car
herself. When she alights to and from the car she steps on a little red towel to keep the running boards clean!
