Pale, natural colour. Hint of peat on the nose but no smoke. Followed<br />
by light, estery, fragrant fru<strong>it</strong> w<strong>it</strong>h a touch of fudge. Even a hint of<br />
ripe banana. Beautifully full bodied in the mouth w<strong>it</strong>h exceptional<br />
combination of wood and whisky characters. Long and satisfying<br />
fi nish.<br />

I fi rst came across Bain’s when judging in a compet<strong>it</strong>ion in Br<strong>it</strong>ain and<br />
thought <strong>it</strong> must <strong>be</strong> a superior corn whisky of qual<strong>it</strong>y I had not previously<br />
found in the USA. You can imagine my amazement when I discovered<br />
<strong>it</strong> w<strong>as</strong> 100 % South African and made from South African maize and<br />
distilled and aged at the James Sedgwick distillery near Wellington !!<br />
Very attractive nose laden w<strong>it</strong>h peach, vanilla, to<strong>as</strong>ted nuts, toffee<br />
and vanilla w<strong>it</strong>h a gorgeous fl oral background.<br />
W<strong>it</strong>h all the sweet arom<strong>as</strong> the palate is comparatively dry w<strong>it</strong>h a<br />
deep richness and elegance. Complex w<strong>it</strong>h all the nose promised plus<br />
hints of spice softened by sweet, oaky undertones.<br />
All combines into a very satisfying, warming and extended mouth<br />
feel w<strong>it</strong>h exceptionally smooth fi nish.
