JUAN MARTÍN HERNÁNDEZ was drafted into the Pumas’ squad for the tour of Italy and Ireland ten years ago after
graduating through the national age group teams. He originally played as a fly half but he also performed as a full
back, centre and wing. Made his Pumas’ debut against Paraguay in 2003, the year in which he scored two RWC
tries against Romania.
During the season 2006/2007, he was named as the best player of the French League, whereas in 2007 he was
nominated as the Best IRB Player, after the RWC France 2007, where he ended third with the Pumas.
Baptized ‘Magician’ by the press, he can create a scoring opportunity from each situation.
Between 2007 and 2012, Juan Martin played only six matches with The Pumas, due to three injuries. Because of
that, he couldn’t play much test matches, and he wasn’t part of RWC 2011. Nowadays, he is recovered and showed
his magic at Rugby Championship.
