Teen/Adult Programs Teen/Adult Special Interests FIRST AID & CPR TRAINING You may need one of these classes for job certification, or you may be a new parent or grandparent looking for basic information. Either way, we have a class that will fit your needs! Courses are $35 each and you will be certified through the American Heart Association. Cost is $65 for the race plus training, or just $35 for the training alone. We will focus on running fundamentals, proper running attire and working to gradually build your stamina from walking to running in preparation for our culminating event, the Sound to Narrows run on Saturday, June 9. ADVENTURE SERIES - MARATHON (NEW) Have you always wanted to run a Marathon? This program is designed for intermediate runners looking to explore a new hobby. Marathon (26.2 miles) - This 13-week program meets on Thursday at 6:00pm starting July 12th. Cost is $150 and includes registration into the Leavenworth Marathon on Saturday, October 6th. Fee does not include transportation to the event. Upon class start date, you should be able to run at least 3 miles (at any pace) without stopping in order to be successful in this program. BOXING FITNESS CLASS Learn the basics of the skill of boxing from putting your hip into your punches, footwork, defensive techniques and boxing cardio to strengthen your heart and lungs. This class has a progressive style training that starts with the basics and moves to advance techniques. Gloves and handwraps will be provided. Please bring your own jumprope. EXPERIENCE THE CHANGE (BIGGEST LOSER) COMPETITION You have seen the Biggest Loser on TV, now you get to experience it at the Federal Way Community Center with J. Bowman, CPT. Kick off meeting is Monday, April 16th at 7pm. Competition runs from 4/23/12 - 6/29/12. Price includes 10 weeks of training during a variety of timeslots, weekly incentive prizes, before and after fitness testing as well as a grand prize to the winner of $1000 cash, plus a set of kettlebells and a jungle gym. 2nd place wins $250. Pump It Up is a fun, full body workout using mostly dumbbells & bodyweight exercises. We utilize the most effective training techniques to deliver the fastest results: tone, strength, endurance, leanness and a revved up metabolism. Adaptable to all fitness levels. Try your first class free to see if this is the class for you! Cost is $89 4-workouts; $175 8-workouts; $200 - unlimited workouts per month. (HIGH-INTENSITY INTERVAL TRAINING) High-intensity interval training is an exercise strategy that improves cardiovascular performance and sheds fat using short bouts of intense training coupled with rest periods. True H.i.i.T. is not all work and no play however, as there are team and partner kettlebell, rope, TRX and bodyweight exercises featured throughout. Let’s Move!
