COMMENTS:.................................This is Asia’s largest rose garden. Named after India’s former President,
the late Shri Zakir Hussain, the garden was established in 1967 under the
guidance of Dr. M.S. Randhawa, Chandigarh’s first Chief Commissioner
and an ardent rose lover. In addition to the roses, emphasis was also given
to trees of medicinal value and other unique specimen trees.

COMMENTS:.................................This garden was begun in 1760 by Hyder Ali and continued to flourish
under its subsequent patron, Tipu Sultan, and then under the British. It is a
240 acre garden located in a residential area in the heart of the city.

ADDRESS: .....................................On the banks of Dal Lake in Kashmir
COMMENTS:.................................This is the largest of the Mughal gardens in Kashmir and is also known as
the “Garden of Bliss”. It has terraces representing each of the Zodiac signs
and a water channel flowing in the middle of the garden.

ADDRESS: .....................................Srinagar in Kashmir
COMMENTS:.................................This garden was created in 1616 by the Mughal Emperor Jehangir for his
wife Nur Jahan. It is built in four terraces and has a traditional water
channel running down the middle. One terrace is dedicated to just roses.
The garden is one of the premier attractions in Kashmir, and a sound and
light show is put on each evening during the May to October tourist season.
