The Japan Rose Society was founded in 1948 and became a public-interest
corporation authorized by the Prime Minister, on April 1, 2012. The purposes of the Society
are to encourage people to plant roses throughout the country, to preserve a pleasant
environment and to promote the exchange of information on roses among rose lovers of the
world.
The Japan Rose Society conducts International Rose Trials every year in cooperation
with Tokyo Metropolis at the Jindai Botanical Garden. It publishes a monthly journal, Rose
Letter, and an Annual Report for its members. It also gives national and local Rose
Exhibitions in spring and autumn. A unique activity of the Society is to provide a newly bred
rose for its members every spring.
