Step heights should be within ±1% of the theoretical values. In the step gradient shown in<br />
Figure 34, the absorbance value for 100% spiked solvent is 600 mAU (600 mAU – 0 mAU).<br />
Therefore, the theoretical values for the 20%, 40%, 60%, and 80% steps are 120, 240, 360,<br />
and 480 mAU, respectively. A deviation greater than 6 mAU for any of the steps would be a<br />
failing result. If the pump passes both the pulsation and proportioning tests, it is working<br />
properly.<br />
If the pump fails the pulsation test or the proportioning test, try to restore proper<br />
performance by cleaning the proportioning valves as described in “Cleaning the LDA<br />
Components without Disassembling the LDA” on page 56. If this fails to restore proper<br />
pump performance, disassemble and clean the LDA and replace the primary seals as described<br />
in “Replacing the Primary Pistons Seals” on page 67.<br />
