Third Annual
Leadership Forum
2010
On December 9th, 2010 the 3rd
SCLG Annual Leadership Forum
took place at the Shangri-La Hotel
in Dubai.
In his introduction Shashi Shekhar,
Founder President of the SCLG, highlighted
the purpose of the SCLG and discussed the
progress made since its inception.
André Verdier, President of the Executive
Committee, outlined the organisation’s
achievements in 2010 and gave a glimpse
of the 2011 plan in his State of the Nation
presentation. ‘’A lot done and a lot more
to do’’, he concluded, and stressed that any
achievements are a result of the joint effort
of all the members, working together as a
team in a consultative way.
This year’s Leadership Forum revolved
around three distinct subjects:

Madrecha the Leadership Team discussed
the current strategy for SCLG’s International
Expansion. This Strategy is to grow in
a controlled way, ensuring a consistent
representation of the industry and its leaders
in the various countries and regions.
A steady growth has been achieved so far
with SCLG South Africa, SCLG Ireland and
SCLG Danube already established. 2011 will
see an increased effort towards the GCC,
Latin America and Asia.
In his workshop themed ‘Government
Interaction and Support in Policy
Formulation’, Dr. Mapara elaborated on
the different government bodies that have
a relationship with the Supply Chain and
Logistics Industry. It was decided to create
a map of these links and define the right
strategy and contacts to maximize our
interaction at the right level.
Soma Sekhar led the discussion on
Internal and External Communication. The
discussion was very lively as those present
felt that improvement in this area is required.
Progress is underway with a revival of ‘The
Link’ and our e-Newsletter. A major overhaul
of our website is also planned for early
2011. The team discussed the importance of
Social Media as a vehicle of communication.
A taskforce has been appointed to address
the strategy and best way forward to make
use of these new communication tools.
It was generally agreed that a more
frequent formal interaction among the
leadership team is required, and it
was proposed to increase the meeting
frequency to twice a year while having VOIP
Conference calls in the interim periods.
The Forum was concluded with
a Networking Event giving the wider
membership the opportunity to meet and
exchange ideas with the Leadership Team.
