Special Board Meeting Packet - Three Valleys Municipal Water District

Director Mendoza inquired about MWD’s 20 by 2020 program and how
it will impact individual households. On the surface this is a good
program, however its success will be directly impacted through supply,
demand and growth.
Director Ruzicka commended Director De Jesus for his thorough
representation as the TVMWD representative at MWD and inquired
what the board at TVMWD can do to help its member agencies work
through the rate fluctuations that are caused when MWD is unable to
meet its adopted budget obligations.
Director Mendoza informed that the perception regarding the cost of
water is confusing to the general population and that all should take
advantage of the next two year period to help educate the voters in
understanding the value of the water bond.
Director Kuhn informed that he and Rick Hansen met recently with the
editor of the San Gabriel Valley Tribune for the purpose of helping to
establish mutually beneficial relationships between the newspaper and
agencies to ensure that what is reported is fair and impartial. He
extended an invitation to any interested member agencies to meet with
him and members of the newspaper staff to help educate them on how
public agencies and their benefits are established. Time was well
spent and Director Kuhn was encouraged by the relationships being
established with the newspapers.
Director Kuhn informed that he has been threatened with a personal
lawsuit as a result of his involvement with WQA. He wanted to alert the
TVMWD board and legal counsel as it is undetermined at this time how
this lawsuit may impact TVMWD.
