Legislative Process • Role of the September Cabinet Meeting. The cabinets will meet within a three-week window in September to begin offering comments and suggested modifications to proposals. • October Legislative Council Meeting. The Council will begin reviewing proposals to provide comments and suggestions in preparation for January. • Role of the Leadership Council. At any point in the cycle, the Leadership Council may offer comments and advice to assist the Board. • Division I Official Notice. Will be published on-line no later than November 15.
Legislative Process • Role of the Legislative Council at the <strong>NCAA</strong> Convention. The Council has three options when considering proposals: – Adopt the proposal – (Category 1); – Send the proposal out for additional comment – (Category 2); and – Defeat the proposal – (Category 3). • Proposals that receive at least 2/3 support are considered adopted, subject to Board oversight. • Proposals that do not receive 2/3 support but receive at least a majority that either support the proposal or support sending the proposals out for comment, are sent out for additional comment.
