� Hand out “Who Are My Friends?” form and “Yes” cards to students who were absent last Sunday. � Teach Lesson 2, and assign Chapter 3 of the textbook to be read for next week. � In the children’s classes, teachers may have pupils color pages from the coloring book to place in the hallways. Worship Service � Use Friend Day bulletin (Will your friend be missing?). � Remind members to pray for the friends on their lists. � Announce that “Yes” cards are available for those who did not pick them up last Sunday. � Pastor challenges members to invite friends. (A Gallup poll found that 67 percent of the people who have never attended Sunday School and church have never been invited. A member of one church reported that his friend said, “Why didn’t you ask me sooner?” Another remarked, “I was just waiting for an invitation.” Some people who would never think of attending church by themselves will respond positively if asked. This is where members can play a major role in the evangelistic outreach of their church.) � Have special prayer for Friend Day. � Pastor preaches second sermon on being a friend (God’s Friendship versus Human Friendships). Midweek Service � Have special prayer for Friend Day. During the Week � Teachers call pupils and encourage them to get “Yes” cards filled in. WEEK SEVEN DATE_______________ Sunday Sunday School � Collect “Yes” cards from students and give them lapel pins. � Start recruiting those with computers to type letters on Friend Day afternoon. � Teach Lesson 3, and assign Chapter 4 of the textbook to be read for next week. � Children may color the Friend Day poster or other picture as their lesson activity. Worship Service � Use Friend Day bulletin (Will your friend be missing?). Collect “Yes” cards. Have special prayer for Friend Day. � Pastor preaches third sermon on being a friend (Christians Help Their Friends). � Start recruiting members who have computers to type letters on Friend Day afternoon. During the Week � Be sure all printing is picked up. � Assigned person buys stamps. Members are requested to send the cards to their friends the afternoon of Friend Day. Worship Service � Use Friend Day bulletin (Will your friend be missing?). � Insert special offering envelope in bulletin. Also, put offering envelopes in back of pews. � Remind members about the special offering to be collected the Sunday following Friend Day. � Announce that thank-you cards and postage stamps will be distributed after today’s service. Members are requested to send the cards to their friends the afternoon of Friend Day. � Announce the special prayer meeting for Friend Day to be held on Saturday, and encourage everyone to attend. � Recruit workers for next Sunday afternoon (typists, envelope stuffers, record keepers, etc.). � Have special prayer for Friend Day. � Pastor preaches fourth sermon on being a friend (Friends Who Help Us). After Morning Service � Have thank-you cards and postage stamps available in the lobby. Midweek Service � Have special prayer for Friend Day.
