IRIDIUM POWER will improve all aspects of your vehicle performance – from acceleration and<br />

TERMINAL-ATTACHMENT SPECIFICATION<br />

It comes with a terminal nut that makes it compatible with all plug codes, but which can be<br />

removed if not needed. (On all types.).<br />

TRUSTWORTHY INTERNAL RESISTORS<br />

IRIDIUM POWER is specified for 5k resistors on all types. It also comes with a trustworthy internal<br />

monolithic resistor. It shuts out all noise to electonic equipment. (All types.).<br />

ANTI-CORROSIVE GLOSSY NICKEL PLATING<br />

The same high-gloss nickel plating that is used for racing is used on the housing, and attains a<br />

high level of anti-corrosion. This means that it will not rust up on you even if used for touring in<br />

the rain or during motocross. (Not applicable to IW16, IW<strong>20</strong>, IW22, IXU22, and IXU24.)<br />

TAPERED CUT GROUND ELECTRODE (Tapered Cut)<br />

The ground electrode has had its tip cut to a fine taper. Lowering the anti-inflammatory action has<br />

greatly increased ignition performance. The streamlined taper makes the air-fuel mixture flow<br />

more smoothly, guaranteeing steadier ignition. (Not applicable to IU24A, IU27A, IU31A, IUF27A<br />

and IUF31A.)<br />

U-GROOVE GROUND ELECTRODE (U-Groove)<br />

A U-shaped groove has been set into the inside of the ground electrode, creating the space<br />

volume necessary for formation of the spark nucleus. Superb ignition performance has been<br />

attained without increasing the spark gap and at the same time maintaining low jump spark<br />

voltage. (World-wide patent acquired in 1975.) (Not applicable to IU24A, IU27A, IU31A, IUF27A<br />

and IUF31A.)<br />

PORCELAIN PROJECTION<br />

We have designed the porcelain projection using a plug heat range that achieves the most<br />

appropriate values. It combines the self-cleaning properties of low plug heat range, and the<br />

heatresistance of high plug heat range to satisfactorily comply with all plug heat range needs. (All<br />

types.)<br />

THE 0.4 MM-RADIUS MICRO IRIDIUM CENTER ELECTRODE<br />

We have reduced the central electrode tip to a micro scale through use of our "new iridium alloy,"<br />

a high melting point material. The jump spark voltage has been reduced, greatly improving the<br />

ignition performance. The iridium alloy employed is a specialized material developed originally by<br />

DENSO, and patents have been taken out on it in Japan (2877035) and the UK (2302367). (All<br />

types.)<br />

AMOUNT OF CENTER ELECTRODE PROTRUSION<br />

In order to increase ignition response, the center electrode protrudes farther than the standard<br />

type. This has the benefit of increasing throttle responsiveness, thereby improving overall<br />

acceleration. (Only on IUH24, IUH27, IX22, IX24, IX27, IUF22, IUF24, IWF22, IWF24, IWF27, IW24,<br />

IW27, IW29, IW31, and IW34.)<br />

CIRCUMFERENCE LASER WELDING<br />

We have used "cirumference laser welding" which can withstand even the harshest driving<br />

conditions thanks to the highly dependable iridium chip joints. (All types.)<br />

JUMP SPARK VOLTAGE<br />

The slimmer the electrode, the more concentrated the potential, and the stronger the electric field<br />

becomes, reducing jump spark voltage. This results in constant combustion in all areas of driving,<br />

and improved starting and acceleration.<br />
