Hiperodoncia múltiple Dr. José Paulino Porras Colón Cirujano Dentista Universidad Latina de Costa Rica RESUMEN La hiperodoncia es una alteración de la lámina dental, que provoca el aumento en el número de piezas dentales, las que reciben el nombre de supernumerarios. Se presentan con diferentes ubicaciones y morfologías, de las cuales dependen la erupción, el impacto en tejidos o dientes vecinos y su tratamiento quirúrgico. La incidencia es mayor en hombres con una relación de 2:1; y se calcula que el 33% de los casos donde se encuentran en dentición temporal, habrá uno en dentición permanente. Pueden estar asociados a síndromes y factores genéticos. En este estudio se realiza una revisión bibliográfica y se presenta un reporte de caso de hiperodoncia múltiple de 5 supernumerarios en ambas arcadas. PALABRAS CLAVES Dientes supernumerarios, hiperodoncia, diente suplementario, ABSTRACT Hyperdontia is an alternation of the dental lamina which causes an increase in the number of teeth which are know as supernumerary teeth. There are many factors like different locations and morphology of which depends the eruption, the impact on surrounding teeth or tissues, and their surgical treatment. The incidence is higher in men with a ratio of 2:1 and a estimated 33% of cases where teeth in permanent dentition. This condition might be associated with syndromes and some genetic factors. This study is a lkiterature review and presents a case report of a multiple hyperdontia in five teeth located in both arches. KEYWORDS Supernumerary teeth, hyperodontia, supplementary teeth.
