2. Description<br />
This is the fourth intensive English course designed<br />
to lead students of Profesorado en Ingles para Tercer<br />
Ciclo de Educación Basica y Educación Media from an<br />
intermediate mid language level up to an intermediate<br />
high competence level. This course comprises more<br />
complex language functions that will take students<br />
up to the desired language competence level. These<br />
functions will be dealt with in four units regarding daily<br />
affairs, socializing, mass media and traveling. Students<br />
will be engaged in different language activities by using<br />
spoken and written discourse at an essay level and using<br />
communicatively oriented methods and techniques.<br />
3. Objectives<br />
A. General Objective:<br />
By the end of this course, students will be able to:<br />
Use various language tools to communicate in English at<br />
an Intermediate high language level.<br />
B. Specific Objectives:<br />
By the end of this course, students will be able to:<br />
• Sustain understanding over longer stretches<br />
of connected discourse on a number of topics<br />
pertaining to different times and places.<br />
• Handle successfully most uncomplicated<br />
communicative tasks and social situations.<br />
• Read consistently with full understanding simple<br />
connected texts dealing with basic personal and<br />
social needs about which the reader has personal<br />
interest and/or knowledge.<br />
• Meet most practical writing needs and limited social<br />
demands.<br />
