5. Methodology
Classes in this subject will be conducted in English so
that the students have the opportunity to be in contact
with the language. Different reading strategies will be the
basis for discussion and analysis of the material used in
class.
Even though the instructor will provide the students with
the necessary tools to further develop the language and
to gain more insight in reading and conversation related
matters, the students will be responsible for their own
learning. To achieve this, the students will be exposed to
the carrying out of tasks likely to be encountered in reallife
situations outside the classroom.
Out-of-class study will be promoted to help the students
be more independent as the teaching-leaning process
takes place. This will eventually give the students the
chance to work on their own and use the material and
learning tools provided by the instructor.
As stated in the description of the subject, the students will
participate in debates, discussions, pair and group work
activities, plays, and other communicative tasks that will
enable them to be more fluent, accurate, independent,
and undertaking.
6. Evaluation Guidelines
• Practice: 80%
• Theory: 20%
To evaluate students’ learning achievements regarding
reading and conversation, the instructor will assess
what has been delivered through the teaching learningprocess
and its components such as objectives, activities
and expected outcomes. Therefore, the following
assessment activities are suggested:
Conversation
Presentations, interviews, impromptu speeches, role
plays, dramatizations, task-based activities, informal
debates, class discussions, and forum discussions.
