3.6 Gestión de la red Wi-Fi
Para realizar la gestión y monitoreo de la red Wi-Fi, se
analizaron herramientas estándares y algunas otras
provistas por los fabricantes de los equipos que conforman
la red. Todas las pruebas realizadas indicaron
la imposibilidad de usar una herramienta cerrada
acorde a las necesidades de la Universidad de La Punta,
que permita dar respuesta online a los usuarios
que presentan algún inconveniente.
Por lo expresado anteriormente se decidió implementar
una plataforma de monitoreo a medida, para
la red Wi-Fi del Gobierno de la Provincia.
Para el diseño de esta plataforma se han tomado en
cuenta diferentes factores tales como:
• Plataformas ya en uso por la ULP. En la medida de
lo posible se utilizaron plataformas ya utilizadas
por la Universidad, no sólo con el fin de minimizar
costos, sino también para minimizar la necesidad
de aprender nuevas herramientas.
• Las capacidades de los equipos a ser monitoreados.

For the design of said platform different factors were taken into account,
such as:
• Platforms that were already used by ULP. Platforms that were already
used by the University were used as much as possible, not
only to reduce costs, but also to minimize the need to learn new
tools.
• The capacities of the equipment to be monitored
• The most frequent problems to be found in a network of these
characteristics, in such a way that their identification and solution
were as immediate and effective possible.
The use of a Whatsup platform was decided for the survey of the system,
monitoring through it the appropriate operation of the network
and the equipment, by means of ICMP (ping), performance graphs
and graphic presentation. This allows having a quick view of the state
of the antenna: operational or not operational, and the alarms to
trigger the appropriate corrections.
