Prepare enough formula for twenty-four (24) hours following the instructions on the
formula label. Prepared formula or open cans must be refrigerated and used within 24-48
hours. Do not use well water for formula preparation. Formula should be at room
temperature or slightly warmer before being fed to your baby. Place the bottle in a
container of hot water for several minutes. Always test the temperature of the formula
before feeding. Never use a microwave for heating formula.
Va a variar la cantidad de fórmula que su bebé tomará. Algunos bebés necesitan de una a
dos (1-2) onzas cada vez al principio; algunos necesitarán más. Cuando su bebé

The amount of formula your baby takes will vary. Some babies require one to two (1-2)
ounces per feeding at first, others may require more. When your baby consistently
finishes his/her feedings he may be ready to have another ounce added to his bottle. Burp
your baby frequently during and after the feeding. Discard any unused formula after one
(1) hour. Do not save it for the next feeding.

Burping
Burp your newborn during each feeding. Your baby will feel better and may be able to
eat more. If you are breast feeding, burp your baby when you change breasts. A bottle fed
baby may need burping after about every half-ounce of formula. Hold the baby’s belly
against your shoulder and gently pat his or her back for a few minutes. When your baby’s
done eating, try burping again. To burp your baby in a sitting position, place the baby on
your lap so he or she leans slightly forward. Support the baby’s chest and head with one
hand and pat or rub the back gently with your other hand.
