María
Moliner
María Moliner was born on March
30 in 1900, in Paniza, Spain. María died
on January 22 in 1981. She began to
suffer from dementia that paradoxically
left her speechless until the day she died.
Her parents were Enrique Moliner Sanz,
a rural doctor, and Matilde Ruiz . She
had one brother and one sister, Enrique
and Matilde, the three of them attended
higher education.
She was a Spanish librarian,
archivist, philologist and lexicographer.
She is the author of the Spanish
dictionary. She wrote alone, at home,
with her own hands, the most complete,
most useful and funniest dictionary of
the Spanish language.
To me María Moliner seems super
intelligent, It’s amazing that she wrote
the dictionary by herself without any
help and with her own hands. Thanks to
her we have been able to find out words
of our language that we didn’t know and
discovered new ones and the people who
have wanted to learn our language have
found It easier with that help.
