Aston Martin, une voiture très particulière. En travaillant sur
ce projet, mon envie de connaître les voitures historiques
s’est accrue car j’ai vu que dans ce qui avait été fait il y avait
une simplicité, une pureté qui manque sur l’automobile
actuelle ; aujourd’hui, c’est une complication énorme sur
l’automobile, il y a une recherche de style qui rend la voiture
moderne très compliquée et pour cela je regarde beaucoup
vers le passé, je regarde la simplicité de la voiture passée
pour simplicité d’inspiration.
Ce sont quelques exemples sur la fabrication de cette voiture.
Cette voiture est venue aujourd’hui aux États-Unis car de
nombreuses années en arrière, Ghia a vendu toutes les
voitures historiques aux collectionneurs privés.
Un autre lien qui pourrait être intéressant comme dessin
parce qu’un designer ne peut pas être inspiré uniquement
par une automobile historique, un designer doit être inspiré
aussi par la modernité, par d’autres domaines du design,
alors durant ma période passée chez Ghia, j’ai eu aussi la
grande chance de travailler avec un autre designer qui vient
d’un domaine complètement diff érent de l’auto et ce projet
était très intéressant car mon devoir chez Ford était non pas
de donner des conseils ni de donner de l’inspiration mais de
rendre réel ce que voulait faire car il venait d’un autre monde
qui n’est pas inspiré par la voiture.
Grâce à ça, j’ai appris une grande attention aux détails, une
grande passion et folie pour les détails qu’a un designer mais
qui manque peut-être au styliste ; c’est pour ça que cette
collaboration a été intéressante et particulière.
Le mélange est particulier mais ce sont ces mélanges qui
font que notre travail en tant que stylistes est particulier.
Avant de quitter Ghia, j’ai eu la chance de faire un projet
amusant, particulier : la Micro Ford qui a été construite par
Pininfarina et c’était beau car chez Ghia j’ai eu l’occasion de
disegnato l’interno. Lavorando su questo progetto mi ha
fatto nascere ancora di più la voglia di conoscere le macchine
storiche perché ho visto che vedendo quello che è stato
fatto c’era una semplicità, c’era una purezza che oggi manca
sull’auto, oggi non c’è più, c’è una complicazione enorme
sull’auto, c’è una ricerca di stile che rende molto complicata
la macchina moderna e per quello guardo molto al passato,
guardo la semplicità della macchina passata per semplicità
d’ispirazione.
Questa macchina è stata venuta oggi negli Stati Uniti perché
parecchi anni fa la Ghia ha venduto tutte le macchine
storiche ai collezionisti privati.
Un altro link che potrebbe essere interessante per dire come
disegno perché un designer non può solo essere ispirato da
una macchina storica, un designer deve essere ispirato anche
dalla modernità, anche da altri campi nel design; durante
il mio momento in Ghia, ho avuto anche la grande fortuna
di lavorare con un altro designer che viene da un campo
completamente diverso dall’auto, e questo progetto è stato
veramente interessante perché il mio compito in Ford era
di non dare consigli, non dare ispirazione ma fare diventare
vero quello che voleva fare, perché lui veniva da un latro
mondo che non è inspirato dall’auto.
Con questo ho imparato una grande attenzione ai dettagli,
una grande passione e pazzia per i dettagli, che un designer
ha ma che forse a uno stilista manca; per questo questa
collaborazione è stata interessante e particolare. Per quello è
il mix particolare ma sono questi mix che a fanno diventare
a noi stilisti particolare il nostro lavoro. Prima di lasciare la
Ghia, ho avuto la fortuna di fare un progetto divertente: la
Micro Ford che è stata costruita da Pininfarina ed è stato
bello perché avendo lavorato per la Ghia ho avuto l’occasione
di lavorare insieme a Pininfarina che per me questi nomi

A few examples on how this car was.
This car arrived here from the United States because many
years ago Ghia had sold all its historic cars to private
collectors. A designer cannot be only inspired by a historic
car, a designer must also be inspired by modernity, also in
fi elds other than design. And during the time I’ve spent
in Ghia I also had the great fortune to work with another
designer who comes from a totally diff erent fi eld, and that
project was extremely interesting as my task in Ford was not
to give advice, not to give inspiration, but to make come true
what we wanted to do.
I have learnt to pay particular attention to details, and I have
developed a strong, almost crazy passion for details, which
designers have but perhaps stylists lack; this is the reason
why this collaboration was so interesting and peculiar.
Before leaving Ghia, I have worked on an amusing job:
Micro Ford by Pininfarina, and it has been nice to have
the chance to work with Pininfarina; for me these Italian
historic names are something special. And it was very
important for me to pass on my passion to my children; I
remember that I became a designer because I had a model
of a Lamborghini and this Lamborghini is in the Bertone
museum. I had the honour to be director of Stile Bertone
for 5 years. It was really beautiful and interesting putting
myself in the position of big designers of the past who
designed these cars. And these are some examples. A little
Fiat Barchetta on a Panda 100 horses-power engine, and I
created this car just to highlight the Italian craftsmanship;
the whole bodywork is handmade, it is a piece I have seen
auctioned, something wonderful. I really wanted to make
this mix between craftsmanship and modernity. The car
has a modern style, peculiar, but doesn’t have a touch of
the past, like perhaps only in Turin happened. I have been
