Quand j'ai presente rna<br />
candidature ala presidence en 1990,<br />
j'avais quelques objectifs en tete.<br />
L'un d'eux etait de modifier Ie<br />
contenu de notre l:mlletin pour y<br />
inclure ce qui, amon sens, faisait<br />
defaut : des articles sur Ie travail qui<br />
se fait actuellement au Canada dans<br />
Ie domaine de l'electroacoustique,<br />
des comptes rendus, des entrevues,<br />
etc. Cet objectif fut atteint tres<br />
rapidement grace au travail et au<br />
devouement de gens formidables qui<br />
voulaient partager leur energie et<br />
leurs idees. La plupart des membres<br />
de la <strong>CEC</strong> n'ecrivent pas aContact!,<br />
et passent Ie plus clair de leur temps<br />
aessayer de joindre les deux bouts et<br />
acreer.<br />

When I proposed my name for<br />
the presidency in 1990, I had a few<br />
goals in mind. One was-to bring back<br />
some of the content that I felt was<br />
absent from our newsletter: articles<br />
about current Canadian<br />
electroacoustic work, revews,<br />
interviews, etc. This was achieved<br />
within a very short time through the<br />
hard work and dedication of<br />
wonderful people who wanted to<br />
share their energy and ideas. Most<br />
<strong>CEC</strong> members do not write to<br />
Contact!, devoting most of their time<br />
to making ends meet and finding<br />
time to create.<br />
Nevertheless, our office is bften<br />
overflowing with flyers and letters<br />
announcing Canadian electroacoustic<br />

canadienne, a l'interieur comme a<br />
l'exterieur du pays. II y a un<br />
equilibre fragile amaintenir en<br />
essayant, d'une part, d'informer nos<br />
membres des activites et des<br />
perspectives dans un delai<br />
raisonriable, d'autre part, de<br />
.produire une publication qui stimule<br />
une activite durable et qui renforce<br />
l'appui accorde anotre association.<br />
En tant que directeur ou codirecteur<br />
de Contact!, j'ai sans doute plus<br />
d'une fois fait pencher la balancemais,<br />
en general, la communaute a<br />
bien accueilli «cette bullevue»<br />
(bulletin/revue).<br />
Le deuxieme objectif que je<br />
m'etais fixe etait d'attirer de<br />
nouveaux membres, surtout parmi<br />
les etudiants et les institutions.<br />

occasion but, in general, the<br />
community has responded positively<br />
to this newszine<br />
(newsletter/ magazine).<br />
The second go! that I had was<br />
to help bring in new members, with<br />
a special focus on students and<br />
institutions. This is quite a challenge<br />
and yields slow results - many<br />
members have to be coerced into<br />
passing the good word - but the<br />
benefits are that the <strong>CEC</strong>will<br />
continue to have in its midst a
