TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATIVE SYSTEM FOR THE INSTALLATION OF
RECONSTRUCTED STONE COVERINGS ON SURFACES SUBJECT TO CAPILLARY
RISING MOISTURE
DESCRIPTION:
An innovative technological system that allows the installation of reconstructed stone also
on substrates affected by capillary rising moisture phenomenon or moderately humid. It is
suitable for both new construction and reconstruction projects.
AIR SYSTEM is composed of AIR PLAST (100% recycled plastic material fabric), VENTO
“L” (“L” shaped element), 2,5x2,5 cm GALVANIZED MESH and of anchor bolts. Thanks
to the 10 cm pitch corrugated profile of AIR PLAST, to its micro-porosity and to the
fact of being pre-coupled with a breathable polypropylene waterproof membrane, the selfventilated
walls can be built. The VENTO “L” shaped elements with corrugated profile, also
these made of recycled plastic, help the air access and supply both horizontal and vertical
micro-ventilation, allowing at the same time, the drainage of residue water if required.
The system allows evacuating the moisture from the masonry preventing the formation of
condensation. The mechanical fastenings and the galvanized steel reinforcement ensure the
mechanical resistance necessary to hold the weight of reconstructed stone covering. The
procedure consists in applying a high thickness layer of ARREDOCOLLA and, once it has
hardened, to install the reconstructed stone covering as on any traditional.
USE:
AIR SYSTEM is used whenever the substrate destined to receive the reconstructed
or natural stone covering doesn’t provide the sufficient mechanical strength, such as
deteriorated plasters, poor consistency masonries , retaining walls, or wherever the
moisture is present due to either weak infiltration or rising moisture. The system is used
to get rid of stains, to prevent the formation of efflorescence and the appearance of mold
and algae onto the covering in moisture presence.
PREPARATION OF SUBSTRATE:
Remove mold, algae, moss, saline efflorescence, old varnishes and detaching plaster from
substrate, either mechanically or by pressure washing. Heavily deteriorated substrates shall
be restored with plastering mortars or ANTIQUA type by Colmef Srl rough-coating.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:
Position the VENTO “L” shaped elements every 30-40 cm on the bottom of the wall to
cover. Position AIR PLAST with its waterproofing membrane turned out and with its skirt
wrapped back under bottom on first course. Spun bond fabric should overlap the top of
the lower course of VENTO “L” shaped elements to prevent the blockage of air circulation
that might be caused by the adhesive used for the shaving and stone installation. Fasten
AIR PLAST mechanically so that it perfectly sticks to the support, make its corrugated
profile coincide with the same of the VENTO “L” shaped elements. In the case of junctions,
overlap the rolls for 4-5 cm both vertically and horizontally. After having positioned the AIR
PLAST, fasten the galvanized mesh reinforcement with expansion anchor bolts. For perfect
anchorage and support, the anchor bolts shall be positioned every 35-40 cm either vertically
or horizontally. Their size will depend on the kind of support. Completed the fixing, apply a
smoothing compound ARREDOCOLLA. Its layer shall be thick enough to cover the whole
galvanize mesh in order to form a sufficiently resistant surface that, one hardened, will
be resistant enough to receive the reconstructed stone covering. At the end, after the stone
grouting, , cut the excess of “L” shaped element and fix a finishing element to the superior
part of the covering taking care to avoid occlusion OF THE Air PLAST profile.
CONSUMPTION:
VENTO “L”:
ANCHOR BOLTS:
ARREDOCOLLA:
1 piece every 30-40 cm.
9 pezzi a m² circa.
4-5 kg/m 2 for the reinforced smoothing
3-5 kg/m 2 as the adhesive for stone installation.
PACKAGING:
a package allows to cover 12 m 2 of surface and consists of:
--
n° 1 AIR PLAST roll of 12 m 2
:
length 15,00 m
height 0,80 m
10 mm pitch corrugated profile.
--
n° 1 GALVANIZED MESH roll of 12 m 2
, mesh 2.5 x 2.5 cm
length 12,00 m
height 1,00 m
-- n° 30 “L” shaped WIND elements (one box)
-- n° 100 expanded ANCHOR BOLTS ø 3,5 x 55 mm (one box)
CAUTIONS:
AIR SYSTEM is not a dehumidifying system, it does not eliminate rising moisture, but it
allows the continuous water evaporation, getting rid of imperfections due to the formation
of efflorescence, moss, molds. The kind and size of the expansion anchor bolts will be
chosen according to the kind of support.
SPECIFICATIONS:
on surfaces subjected to weak infiltration or to capillary rising moisture, install the AIR
SYSTEM by Pietre d’Arredo , prior to the installation of the reconstructed stone covering
such as ………… ( eg. Arenal) of COLMEF brand Pietre d’Arredo.
