The age ofinformantsranged from 22 to 100 years and the mean age was 49 years, with an errormarging of 0.5. Most women in our sample were married (63%), multiparous(51.2%), illiterate (71 %) and were housewives (45.3%).Analyses revealed that the different gynaecologic cancers were moreacute in people between 45 and 54 years. The presumptive diagnosis of agynaecologic cancer was evoked in relation to the clinical presentation, guidedby biology and imagery and confirmed by the anatomopathology.The cancer ofthe cervix appears to be the first gynaecologic cancer in oursample with a frequency of 67.5%. It is followed by the cancer of the ovarieswith 18.2%, the cancer of the endometrium with 8.4%, the cancer of the vulvawith 2.5%, the cancer of the vagina with 1.5%, and the cancer of the fallopiantubes with 0.5%. The mean age at the moment of the diagnosis was:gynaecologic cancer: 49.5 years; cancer of the cervix: 48.6 years; cancer of theovaries: 59.5 years; cancer of the endometrium: 58.8 years; cancer of the vulva:65.3 years; cancer of the vagina: 59.5 years. The only patient with the fallopiantube cancer was aged 76. The main reasons for consultations were: metrorrhagiaand leucorrhoea for the cancer of the cervix; metrorrhagia for the cancer of theendometrium; ascitis and dyspareunia for the cancer of the ovaries and thecancer of the vulva, respectively. The mean wait between the onset ofsymptomatology and the date of consultation was two (2) months for mostcancers. Sorne patients were consulted after three (3) months of illness. Thediagnosis was late. Indeed, 30.7% of them were diagnosed at stages III and IVfor the cancer of the cervix, and the histological types found were 70.1 %epidermoïd carcinomas against 0.7% ofadenocarcinoma (1 case).
