The production of G.F. Handel’s Radamistoin the Salzburg Whitsuntide Festival productionwas acclaimed by the press and the public. InVienna, in the course of the Klangbogen (a monthof opera performances around the city) Mozart’s IlSogno di Scipione was given in the Konzerthaus,and Mozart’s Il re pastore at the Theater an derWien. A highlight of Mozart year 2006 was DieSchuldigkeit des ersten Gebots.The orchestra Wiener Akademie together withMusica Angelica Baroque Orchestra Los Angeles(artistic director Martin Haselböck) extensivelytoured the USA, Mexico and Europe givingperformances of Bach’s “St. Matthew Passion”. In2007 until 2010 the Wiener Akademie was engagedas festival orchestra of the Burgarena, Reinsberg,where they performed with great success Weber’sFreischütz, Beethoven’s Fidelio ( NCA produced aDVD), Humperdinck’s “Hansel and Gretel” (withDVD by NCA), and Handel’s “Acis and Galatea”.Each year the orchestra presents a musical focaltopic. For instance, on the occasion of Lisztyear, 2011, his orchestral works were, underthe title “The Sound of Weimar” performed onoriginal instruments in the original Weimar firstperformancescoring, at the Liszt Festival, Raiding,where since 2010 the Wiener Akademie has been“Orchestra in residence”.
