« <strong>Troubles</strong> <strong>du</strong> <strong>sommeil</strong> <strong>chez</strong> l’adolescent : Enquête en médecine générale »AbstractObjectives: study among adolescents consulting their GP, the general characteristics of sleep,the frequency of some sleep disorders and the perception of the youth on the quality of hissleep. Then, isolate among these teenagers a population ill-being (through scale ADRS) tostudy the particularities of their sleep.Method: prospective study con<strong>du</strong>cted by a self-proposed questionnaire to all teenagersbetween 12 and 19 years seen in consultation between the 22-11-2007 the 02-05-2008.Results: adolescents interviewed slept poorly on weekdays and compensated this deficiencysleep the weekend. This phenomenon was increasing with age and it was particularlypronounced among girls. The sleep disturbances were common: 26.4% of the adolescentsinterviewed had difficulties in falling asleep, 12.1% of trouble maintaining sleep, 19% feltpoorly sleep. These problems were often neglected by teenagers as less than half with apoorly thought insomnia sleep and only 47.8% of those with a disorder of sleep wanted to talkto their doctor. Among adolescents ill-being, certain sleep disorders were particularlyrecurring: nightmares (40% °), night awakenings (36%), and daytime sleepiness (46.7%)while they are rarely present in other teens.Conclusion: interviewing teenagers on their sleep is important, first, because young people donot speak freely about their troubles and, secondly, because this questioning can be a littleintrusive way to identify an ill-being in some of them.Keywords: adolescents; sleep disorders, depression, nightmares.
