the best of the world in the 50m Running
Target Mixed Men event, while Byelorussia’s
50m Rifle Prone expert SergeI MArtynov
was the only 2006 World Champion to win
a second title back to back. Martynov also
achieved another record: he was the first
man of the ISSF history to win two 50m Rifle
Prone World Championship medals. “This
title proves me that I am not too old to win in
the next Olympic Games,” commented Martynov,
who will be 44-year old in 2012.

We can undoubtedly say that the media coverage
of the 50 th ISSF World Championship in
all shooting events was “the best ever” in the
history of the shooting sport. The numbers
confirm it: 592 million people followed shooting
on TV all around the world, and footage of
the competition was made available to a potential
audience of more than 2 billion of people.
This exceptional coverage was reached
thanks to the collaboration between the ISSF,
Eurovision and a few of the most important
sports video-magazines, which distributed
the footage of the championship all around
the world. international networks, national
TV stations, movie theatres, airplanes: more
than 450 broadcasters, from Oceania to North
America, from Africa to Asia, requested and
obtained live feed, videos, highlights, interviews
and summaries of the championship
and, as a result, more than 140 hours of TV
were aired during the 10-day event.
Never before has a shooting competition
reached such a worldwide coverage, as certified
by some of the most important media
consulting companies collaborating with the
ISSF. And that’s not all. As usual, the ISSF
guaranteed full coverage also on its website,
broadcasting the finals of the 15 Olympic
events with a special commentaries in English,
and more than 50 video clips on-demand.
These results were a pay-off for the exceptional
resources invested by the International
Shooting Sport Federation during this year’s
World Championship: twenty professionals including
cameramen, satellite technicians and
experts, more than ten cameras, five tons of
materials and three trucks were used to produce
the best TV production ever possible.
