DESTINATIONS
Le village d’Ampangalantsary
se situe au bord de la
route nationale N°2 reliant
Antananarivo et Toamasina.
C’est un des Fokontany qui
composent la commune rurale
d’Andasibe, dans le district de
Moramanga, partie sud-est de
la région Alaotra-Mangoro. Avant d’accéder
à Andasibe, il faut passer par Mangarivotra
et Ampangalantsary et compter quelques
kilomètres en prenant la bifurcation à gauche.
Ampangalantsary signifie « lieu où
l’on prend des photos », car autrefois les
villageois apercevaient des touristes prendre
des clichés au sommet d’une montagne.
Cette zone est riche d’une forêt primaire,
de magnifiques paysages et surtout d’une
faune exceptionnelle. Tout cela contribue
largement à son intérêt touristique. Outre
le parc Andasibe Mantadia, la réserve
d’Analamazaotra et la réserve Vakôna, à
proximité, d’autres aires protégées sont à
découvrir dans les environs.

forest, beautiful landscapes and
especially exceptional wildlife.
La forêt d’Iaroka
La forêt d’Iaroka se trouve dans le village
d’Antavolobe, à Ampangalantsary.
Elle abrite des amphibiens et sept espèces
de lémuriens diurnes et nocturnes. En
2012, un oiseau à bec busqué bleu clair
nacré, appelé Eurycère de Prevost y a été
découvert, renforçant d’autant le potentiel
éco touristique du site. Forte de ses 2200
ha, cette forêt est gérée par une association
qui outre la promotion du site poursuit les
chasseurs illégaux. En février, plusieurs
braconniers y ont été arrêtés.
Mitsinjo Reserve
C’est une réserve moins connue, située en
face de celle d’Analamazaotra. Gérée par
une association, elle a tout pour plaire aux
touristes : insectes, caméléons et lémuriens y
sont facilement visibles, surtout les Babakoto
ou Ramambikina (Indri Indri), des primates
endémiques de la région qui intéressent
beaucoup les visiteurs.
Tvillage of Ampangalantsary is located at the national
road N° 2 between Antananarivo and Toamasina. It is
a traditional Madagascan village (Fokontany) and part
of the rural municipality of Andasibe, in the district of
Moramanga, in the southeastern part of the Alaotra-
Mangoro region. Before reaching Andasibe, you must pass
through Mangarivotra and Ampangalantsary and count a few kilometres
after turning to the left at the junction.
Ampangalantsary means "place where one takes pictures", because
formerly the villagers saw tourists taking snapshots at the top of a mountain.
This area is rich in primary forest, beautiful landscapes and especially
exceptional wildlife. All this contributes greatly to its touristic value. In
addition to the Andasibe Mantadia Park, the Analamazaotra Reserve and the
nearby Vakona Reserve, there are other protected areas nearby.
The Iaroka Forest
Iaroka Forest is located near the Antavolobe
Village, Ampangalantsary. It is home to
amphibians and seven species of diurnal and
nocturnal lemurs. In 2012, a bird with a pearled
light blue beaked nose called “Eurycère de
Prevost” was discovered there, reinforcing all
the ecotourism potential of the site. With its 2200 ha, this forest is managed
by an association which in addition to the promotion of the site pursues
illegal hunters. Last February, several poachers were arrested.
Mitsinjo Reserve
It is a less known reserve, located opposite that of Analamazaotra. Managed
by an association, it has everything to please tourists: insects, chameleons
and lemurs are easily to observe, especially the Babakoto or Ramambikina
(Indri Indri), endemic primates of the region.
