Ordination diaconale à l’île Maurice
Josian Labonté, formateur à Caritas, parmi
les nouveaux diacres permanents
Pour une première dans l’histoire
de l’Eglise mauricienne,
quatre hommes mariés ont été
ordonnés comme diacres permanents
par Son Ém. le Cardinal Maurice E.
Piat, évêque de Port-Louis, le dimanche
13 mai dernier, au Thabor, Ile
Maurice. Josian Labonté, Responsable
du Service Formation au sein de
Caritas Ile Maurice, était parmi les
quatre nouveaux serviteurs ordonnés
du diocèse de Port-Louis.
Le Diacre Josian a ainsi été confié, par
son évêque, la mission de promouvoir
une plus grande participation
des fidèles au service des pauvres. Il

assumer le ministère d’éveil et d’accompagnement
de ces paroisses au
service des pauvres.
Avec l’affectation d’un diacre à ce
ministère, l’Église de l’Ile Maurice
renouvelle son engagement de mettre
les pauvres au coeur de sa mission et
être avec eux. Une priorité que le
diocèse de Port-Louis a voulu mettre
en avant depuis les années 2000, suite
au Synode diocésain, où l’Option Pré-

among the new permanent deacons
For the first time in the Mauritian Church, four married men were ordained as
permanent deacons by His Eminence Cardinal Maurice E. Parker, Bishop of
Port Louis, on Sunday 13 May last, at the Thabor, Mauritius. Josian Labonté,
head of the training department within Caritas Mauritius, was among the four
newly ordained deacons of the Diocese of Port-Louis.
Josian Labonté:

du Christ et me dépasser »
a été nommé diacre pour les paroisses
Saint-Sacrement, Cassis, et Saint-
Vincent-de-Paul, Pailles, situées dans
les faubourgs de la capitale. Le Diacre
Josian a reçu comme responsabilité
de repérer des personnes aptes à
Deacon Josian was entrusted by his Bishop, with the mission of promoting
greater participation of the faithful in the service of the poor. He was appointed
Deacon for two parishes: Holy Sacrament and Saint-Vincent-de-Paul, located
in the suburbs of the capital. Deacon Josian has been given the responsibility
of identifying persons who are able to assume the Ministry of Awakening and
Accompanying these parishes in the service of the poor.
With the assignment of a deacon to this ministry, the Church in Mauritius
renews its commitment to put the poor at the heart of its mission and be with
them. A priority that the Diocese of Port-Louis has put forward since the year
2000, following the diocesan synod, where the Preferential Option for the Poor
had been adopted as one of the main orientations.
