L'HEPIA, NOUVEAU PARTENAIRE DE LA MANIFESTATION

départ, HEPIA analysera
les orthophotos prises
par deux drones, en
relation avec les données
GPS provenant des
balises des bateaux.
Cette expérience leur permettra de vivre en temps
réel et ressentir toutes les contraintes auxquelles
sont soumis les navigateurs pendant un Bol d’Or
Mirabaud. «Le sport est un sujet dynamique
et enthousiasmant, et le fait d’envisager une
participation crée un véritable engouement pour
nos étudiants.» Jacques Richard laissera cependant
les marins en herbe se débrouiller le jour de la
course, puisqu’il participe à la régate, comme
chaque année, sur son propre voilier.
Ce partenariat pourrait donc bien créer de
nouvelles vocations et surtout favoriser encore la
place des sports véliques dans le monde de la
recherche appliquée. Le bassin lémanique est déjà
connu dans le monde entier comme pôle de
compétences de haut niveau, et plusieurs solutions
technologiques issues d’instituts de la région ont
contribué au rayonnement international de la voile
suisse. L’arrivée de l’HEPIA dans ce réseau ne
pourra que renforcer cette remarquable image.

A keen sailor
Jacques Richard, professor of
Mechanics, is also a really keen
sailor. He is contributing to various
extra-curricular activities, such as
teaching the students to sail the
Surprise provided by the SNG.
They will be putting together a
team and will be out on the water.
This will enable them to experience
all the trials and tribulations
that competitors have to face
during the Bol d’Or Mirabaud
regatta. “Sport is invigorating and
exhilarating, and our students are
really excited about the idea of
taking part.”
This partnership could well result
in new vocations and should
certainly promote sailing as a sport
in the world of applied research.
The Lake Geneva area is already
known worldwide as a center of
expertise, and several technological
solutions developed by local
institutes have contributed to the
international renown of Swiss
sailing. Bringing HEPIA into this
network can only serve to
reinforce this outstanding image.
