ndranokoditra est un petit village de
pêcheurs de la côte est de Madagascar.
Il est niché entre le Canal des Pangalanes
et l’Océan Indien. C’est une ancienne gare
ferroviaire de la ligne TCE ou Tananarive-
Côte Est. Les villageois sont très accueillants, la plage
tranquille et les paysages magnifiques ponctués par
les cases en falafa et les maisons sur pilotis, typiques
betsimisaraka.
Préservé du tourisme de masse,
Andranokoditra a su garder son
authenticité et préserver sa
richesse naturelle et culturelle. Ce
village est l’endroit parfait pour se
détendre dans un cadre naturel
où les activités ne manquent
pas : baignade, visite du musée,
balade en pirogue ou découverte
de la biodiversité. En visitant le
Palmarium du lac Ampitabe, vous
croiserez non seulement des
lémuriens mais également des
espèces d’amphibiens, de tortues
et d’insectes. Coté flore, grâce au
climat tropical chaud et humide
de la région, cette zone abrite des
orchidées, des plantes carnivores
ainsi que des bois précieux.
La visite de ce site soutien un projet communautaire
favorisant le développement économique et social du
village, l’Ecolodge Les Orchidées d’Andranokoditra a été
construit et géré par une coopérative villageoise dans
le but de dynamiser le Canal des Pangalanes et de
développer durablement le village.

authentic character
Andranokoditra is a small fishing village,
nestling between the Pangalanes Canal
and the Indian Ocean, on the east coast of
Madagascar. It is actually a small former
railway town, on the TCE or Tananarive-
East Coast line. The villagers are extremely welcoming,
the beach is really calm and the stunning scenery is
dotted with bamboo huts and houses on stilts, typical of
the Betsimisaraka tribe.
Preserved from mass tourism,
Andranokoditra has retained its
authentic character and kept its
natural and cultural treasures. The
village is the perfect place to relax
in a natural environment, with no
shortage of activities: swimming,
visiting the museum, trips in a
dugout canoe and discovering the
area’s biodiversity. While visiting
the Palmarium on the shore of
lake Ampitabe, you will spot not
only species of lemurs, but also
amphibians, tortoises and insects.
As for the flora, thanks to the
region’s hot wet climate, there
are orchids, carnivorous plants
and precious woods.
A visit to the site also offers
support to a community project aimed at the social and
economic development of the village. The Eco-lodge Les
Orchidées d’Andranokoditra has been constructed and
is managed by a village cooperative aimed at boosting
the activity of the Canal and developing the village in a
sustainable manner.
