Quand y aller? / When to go?
La région Atsinanana est caractérisée par un climat
chaud et humide avec de fortes précipitations.
La période idéale pour une visite s’étend d’avril à
octobre. Il est interdit de transporter ou consommer
de la viande de porc sur le Canal des Pangalanes.
The region of Atsinanana is characterised by a hot wet
climate with heavy rainfall. The ideal period to visit
is between April and October. Note that the transport
and consumption of pork on the Pangalanes Canal
are forbidden.
Comment s’y rendre? / How to get there?
Ce petit village est situé à 60 km de Toamasina.
Prenez un vol de la Compagnie Tsaradia pour
Toamasina puis prenez un bateau motorisé au port
fluvial de Manangareza.
Une autre possibilité est d’embarquer sur le bateau
“Reine Tina” et de longer le Canal des Pangalanes
pour atteindre Andranokoditra.
The little village lies 60km west of Toamasina. Take a
Tsaradia flight to Toamasina then a motorboat from
the river port of Manangareza.
Another possibility is to embark on the Reine
Tina and sail down the Pangalanes Canal as far as
Andranokoditra.

Réservez votre bungalow à l’Ecolodge Les Orchidées
d’Andranokoditra ou si vous préférez l’aventure, vous
pouvez camper sur la plage.
Book a bungalow at the Eco-lodge Les Orchidées
d’Andranokoditra. More adventurous travellers can
camp on the beach.
Où manger? / Where to eat?
Les plats à base de fruits de mer étant la spécialité de
cette partie Est de l’île, goûtez ces plats typiques chez
les habitants ou bien dégustez-les au restaurant de
l’Ecolodge où divers plats savoureux sont proposés.
Seafood is the speciality of this region in the east of
Madagascar. You can taste typical dishes prepared by
the inhabitants or at the restaurant of the Eco-lodge,
which offers a choice of delicious dishes.
Que voir? / What to see?
Profitez de votre escale pour visiter la forêt de Vohibola
et contemplez les beaux paysages et les petits
villages de pêcheurs longeant le littoral. Une petite
virée à Andovoranto égayera également votre séjour.
Rencontrez les pêcheurs en prévoyant une balade en
pirogue le long du Canal des Pangalanes. Familiarisezvous
avec la culture betsimisaraka en découvrant le
quotidien de ces artisans notamment l’importance des
Tangalamena ou chef spirituels.
Take advantage of your stay to visit the forest of Vohibola
and admire the lovely scenery, with the little fishing
villages all along the shore. A trip to Andovoranto is
recommended and take a journey in a dugout along
the Canal, meeting the fishermen. Get to know the
Betsimisaraka culture and the daily lives of the craftsmen
and the importance of the Tangalamena or spiritual chiefs.
