du Wall House.
In partnership with the association, St. Barth Ile
d’Art, the Wall House Museum pays homage to the
work of artists Julian Schnabel and Brice Marden
through the prism of The Camp (editor’s note: a property
on the eastern end of St Jean beach known today as
Camp David) and its visionary founder Michael Zimmer.
Until 1992, The Camp, a precursor to an eco-lodge, was
where Michael Zimmer hosted some big-name artists
when they visited Saint Barthélemy — Jean-Michel
Basquiat, Ellsworth Kelly, and Elaine de Kooning, to
name a few, as well as Julian Schnabel, Brice Marden
and his wife Helen. A place where cultural conversation

En partenariat avec l’association St. Barth Île d’Art, le
musée du Wall House a choisi de rendre hommage au
travail des artistes Julian Schnabel et Brice Marden
à travers le prisme de “The Camp” (ndlr : connu aujourd’hui
sous le nom de Camp David, un terrain situé tout à l’est
de la baie de Saint-Jean) et de son fondateur visionnaire
Michael Zimmer.
C’est en effet dans son éco-lodge “The Camp” que Michael
Zimmer accueillera, jusqu’en 1992, certains des plus grands
artistes de passage à Saint-Barthélemy — Jean-Michel
Basquiat, Ellsworth Kelly ou encore Elaine de Kooning, pour
ne citer qu’eux, ainsi bien sûr que Julian Schnabel, Brice
Marden et sa femme Helen. Un lieu d’échange culturel tout
naturellement tourné vers l’art puisque c’est grâce aux
