as in 1910 by Bergamo with thirty-nine (0.9%). Only three other provinces have more than<br />

fifteen immigrants: Varese thirty (0.7%), Vicenza twenty-nine (0.7%), and Milano eighteen<br />

(0.4%). The rest of the provinces with less than fifteen immigrants account for 3.3% of the<br />

total. Marriages between Italians and people from other nations increased. There are in fact 39<br />

(0.9%) people of different nationalities married to Italians.<br />

The number of provinces represented in 1920 is similar to 1910, thirty-six and forty<br />

respectively, but in 1920 there is an increase in the southern ones. The overall number of<br />

people from southern regions (Campania, Basilicata, Calabria, and Sicilia) increases to thirty-<br />

six. Also the variety of the provinces of the central regions (Toscana, Marche, Lazio,<br />

Sardegna, Molise, Abruzzo, Emilia-Romagna) increases in 1920.<br />
