As Figure XI shows, Boarding reaches its peak in 1910, but as also previously stated,<br />

these data are far from being exact because many more households included boarders than<br />

the ones in which one member is indicated as boarding house keeper. Probably many<br />

individuals did not considered themselves as boarding house keepers when they had other<br />

occupations outside the house.<br />

Besides the fact that the number of workers in Building (Figure XII) is far lower than<br />

what was expected, the trend of the percentages is the strangest. 44 The small number could<br />

be explained by the fact that many of them were working for the mines and are not therefore<br />

included in this group. It could also explain the fact that in 1930 the percentage increases; in<br />

fact given the decline in mining industry, it is possible that many workers had to find an<br />

alternative way to earn their living.<br />
