Tecnica decorativa che permette di ottenere in uno stesso vetro soffiato o massiccio più strati sovrapposti di colore diverso con un suggestivo effetto coloristico. Si ottiene immergendo il vetro attaccato alla canna in crogioli contenenti vetri di diverso colore. Talvolta per aumentare l’effetto decorativo fra gli strati di vetro troviamo inclusioni di foglia d’oro o altri metalli oppure con bollicine d’aria. Sommerso is a decorative technique whereby the piece, which can be blown or solid, is cased in one or more layers of different colours to obtain a bright and attractive effect. Sommerso glass is made by dipping the piece (while still attached to the pontil) into crucibles containing molten glasses of different colours.
