Il progetto nasce con l’intento di creare una
serie di arredi urbani dove la ricerca del
desgn è volta ad individuare segni distintivi
della religione Cristiana Cattolica.
L’arredamento urbano di sagrati e piazze
antistanti le nostre chiese deve, secondo
noi, riflettere in maniera chiara quali siano
i simboli ed i valori dell’edificio sacro che
rappresenta all’esterno, pertanto non si è in
errore se si pensa di estendere tali simboli
anche a manufatti quali lampioni ed altri
arredi urbani.
Questo affinchè siano chiari e riconoscibili,
fuori e sopratutto nello spazio antistante la
chiesa, i tratti inequivocabili di appartenenza
alla fede Cristiana.
Il tema dell’arredo urbano è stato negli anni
a lungo dibattuto da architetti ed urbanisti
quale importante argomento per il territorio
che si presenta ai cittadini o anche solo al
passante occasionale.
L’importanza di avere luoghi nelle nostre città
o periferie che in qualche modo siano arredate
con oggetti di qualità, viene percepita da chi
ne fruisce come un miglioramento della vita
quotidiana nell’uso degli spazi che spesso si
traduce anche nell’averne più cura.
Si pensi anche al significato della luce che
illumina l’intorno in un luogo aperto ed è
inoltre un luogo di ricovero e di protezione,
ciò viene ad assumere ancora un più alto
significato se corpi illuminanti quali lampioni
sono posti negli spazi intorno alle nostre
chiese.

the plan arose with the purpose of creating
a line of street furniture where the search for
design aims at characterizing the Christian
Catholic emblems.
The exterior furniture for squares in front of
our churches has to reflect clearly what the
symbols and values represented by those
sacred buildings are. Therefore, you are not
be mistaken if you think to extend these
symbols also to artefacts such as streetlamps
and so on.
And this in order that – outside and, above
all, in the area in front of churches – the
unequivocal traits belonging to the Christian
faith may be evident and recognizable.
The subject of urban decoration has been
much debated for the past years by archietcts
and town planners and proposed as an
important topic to the citizens of a territory
or even to occasional passers-by.
The importance of having areas in our
towns or suburbs furnished with high
standard streetlamps is perceived by the
people enjoying the use of these areas as
an improvement of one’s everyday life and
this also leads us to better preserve the
furniture.
Just think of the meaning of light when it
illuminates the area around an open space
making it also a shelter and a protective
place. It gets even a higher meaning if the
luminaires, or streetlamps, are placed around
our churches.
