CONEGLIANO E LA DAMA CASTELLANA Nel 1231 coneglianesi e trevigiani si scontrarono sul campo di battaglia. Vinsero i primi e per celebrare quell’evento storico si decise di proporre una rievocazione, sotto forma di una partita di dama vivente, che dagli anni ’80 da medievale cambiò l’impostazione in rinascimentale. Nasce così la Dama Castellana, manifestazione che conta una lunga serie di eventi che coprono cultura e gastronomia ma che vede il suo momento clou con lo spettacolo della dama vivente a giugno (quest’anno il 14 e 15) che richiama in piazza Cima a Conegliano un folto pubblico. CONEGLIANO AND “LA DAMA CASTELLANA” In 1231 the inhabitants of Conegliano and those of Treviso confronted each other on the battlefi eld. The former won and to celebrate this historic event it was decided to offer a reenactment in the form of a game of living draughts (checkers), which in the 1980s took on a Renaissance rather than mediaeval look. Thus the Dama Castellana was initiated, which includes a long series of events covering the spheres of culture and gastronomy but whose highlight is the game of living draughts in June (this year on 14th and 15th) which draws large crowds to Piazza Cima in Conegliano. 11
