Visit Conegliano Valdobbiadene SPRING / SUMMER 2014 Il mio Conegliano Valdobbiadene My Conegliano Valdobbiadene Di/by Davide Rampello Curatore Palinsesto Eventi e curatore artistico Padiglione Zero, Expo Milano 2015 Direttore artistico del Carnevale di Venezia Administrator of the Programme of Events and Artistic Director of Pavilion Zero, Expo Milano 2015 Artistic Director of the Carnival of Venice L’alimentazione, tema dell’Expo 2015 di Milano, è una componente essenziale della storia dell’umanità. Food, the subject of Expo 2015 in Milan, is an essential component in the history of humanity. Man has forged a relationship with the nature that surrounds him by means of the four “arts” of breeding, cultivating, fi shing and hunting, thus creating forms of expression, knowledge and skills. This universal exhibition, precisely in view of the important themes it deals with, represents an incredible opportunity for promoting those areas of Italy that are most capable of expressing their genius loci to the full. Conegliano Valdobbiadene is, without any shadow of a doubt, one of them. The extraordinary richness of its countryside offers the visitor a complete cognitive experience not only from a sensory - visual, olfactory and gustatory - point of view, but (like any product of man’s genius) from a spiritual one as well. In a world dominated by uniformity, it therefore becomes essential to safeguard and protect territories such as this: veritable treasure troves of memory in which the wonders of nature have been put to splendid use by the talents of man. For Conegliano Valdobbiadene, then, Expo can defi nitely represent an opportunity for drawing attention to the zone itself, combining the merits of its historical and natural riches with values such as hospitality, sense of community and sharing with others, and transmitting all of these qualities through strategic marketing to tourists. Indeed, the extraordinary beauty of this region lies in the harmonious relationship that links a huge historical and artistic heritage – from monumental churches to splendid examples of rural architecture – with a tradition that unfolds amidst ancient culinary recipes and modern gastronomic interpretations, to which Prosecco Superiore always offers a precious and refi ned accompaniment. What is important is that the varied and virtuous marvel that this area represents should be encouraged to continue to exist and that the lightness, gracefulness and delicacy that have always typifi ed its image should be preserved. . 7
