Conoscere il Superiore
Get to know Prosecco Superiore
comuni in posizione collinare.
Superiore in ogni occasione
The region makes the difference
Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore represents a synthesis
between various types of soil, a mild climate and the skill of men who
have passed down the art of their hand-crafted labour from one generation
to the next. It is thanks to this experience that they can cultivate
the steep slopes of the hills that they have adorned with manicured
vineyards, creating an environment so spectacular that it is now a candidate
to become a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The production area
twists and turns between the towns of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene,
in the North-East of Italy, between Venice and the Dolomites. It lies
exclusively in the hilly terrain of 15 communes. This terroir is the predominant
factor in the superior quality of Conegliano Valdobbiadene
Prosecco Superiore, to which one can add the area’s long tradition of
making sparkling wines, begun in 1876 with the foundation of Italy’s
fi rst School of Oenology at Conegliano.
A “Superiore” for every occasion
Prosecco Superiore comes in three versions that vary in their residual sugar
content: Brut, the driest style (from 0 to 12 g/l), Extra Dry, the most traditional
version (from 12 to 17 g/l), and Dry with a higher level of residual sugar
(from 17 to 32 g/l). This sparkling wine also differs according to where it
comes from within the region. The “Rive” wines are produced from grapes
grown in a single commune or district thereof. In the commune of Valdobbiadene,
in a small subzone of only 107 hectares, Cartizze - the fl agship
wine of the D.O.C.G. - is produced.
