L’antica perizia dei mestieri manuali torna a rivivere. E’ quello che accade ogni
anno nei tipici borghi di impronta medievale di Cison di Valmarino, piccolo paese
ai piedi delle Prealpi Trevigiane cresciuto intorno al castello dei Conti Brandolini,
che hanno governato per secoli questo territorio. Da oltre 30 anni, infatti, si svolge qui
nel mese di agosto (la prossima edizione, la 34esima, sarà in programma dall’8 al 17)
Artigianato Vivo, una tra le più apprezzate fiere dell’artigianato d’Italia, che riprende le
tradizioni locali aprendosi per accogliere espressioni anche dell’estero. Manifestazione che,
anno dopo anno, attrae un numero sempre maggiore di appassionati, collezionisti e persone
che intendono passare un weekend diverso dal solito.
Nata negli anni Ottanta per rendere visibile il lavoro artigianale e i mestieri così detti di
nicchia, Artigianato Vivo ha visto crescere di anno in anno il numero di espositori e di
visitatori. Oggi la mostra si presenta come un percorso nel paese che, oltre ad accogliere
come in un habitat naturale questo tipo di lavorazioni, è riuscito a valorizzare l’architettura
rurale e la cornice paesaggistica del contesto urbano. A tutto questo fanno da corollario
concerti e spettacoli, teatrini, cantastorie, pagliacci, maghi e prestigiatori, incontri, dibattiti
e appuntamenti culturali. Non mancano ovviamente diversi stand enogastronomici dove
gustare le prelibatezze del territorio. Artigianato Vivo costituisce quindi un’occasione
imperdibile per l’acquisto di oggetti unici, per degustare vini e prodotti locali e per passare
una giornata indimenticabile con la propria famiglia o con gli amici in un’oasi medievale.

The ancient know-how of manual crafts is brought back to life: that’s what happens every
year in the characteristic mediaeval community of Cison di Valmarino, a little village at the foot
of the Treviso Prealps that sprang up around the castle of the Counts Brandolini, who governed
this area for centuries. In fact, for over 30 years now, Artigianato Vivo has taken place here
in August (this year’s edition, the 34th, is scheduled from the 8th to the 17th). This is one of
Italy’s most popular craft fairs, which displays local traditions whilst opening up to also welcome
artistic expressions from elsewhere, even from abroad. This is an event which, year after year,
attracts an ever-growing number of enthusiasts, collectors, and people who just want to spend a
weekend that is a little bit different from the norm.
Created in the 1980s to give greater visibility to typical crafts and so-called “niche” trades,
Artigianato Vivo has seen the number of its exhibitors and visitors grow from year to year.
Today the fair threads its way through the village which, apart from exhibiting these activities
in what seems their natural habitat, succeeds in showing off the rural architecture as well as
the natural surroundings of this pretty little centre. The fair also features concerts and shows,
puppet theatres, story-tellers, clowns, magicians and illusionists, meetings, debates and cultural
events. Naturally there is no shortage of stands where you can taste the fine wines and foods of
the area. Artigianato Vivo is, therefore, an unmissable opportunity for buying unique objects, for
tasting local wines and food products, and for spending an unforgettable day with one’s family
or friends in an oasis of mediaeval life. ■
