If we were to describe the qualities of Esanatoglia, a town in the Marche inland, and its dwellers, we would mention
creativity, imagination and the constant will of pushing beyond any limit. Wide natural spaces are home to a population
with a penchant for art, and an innovative mind-set. These have always been the distinguishing features of the village
dwellers, from Diotallevi di Angeluccio – with his unique and modern-looking aediculae, to Lorenzo Taccaroni and his
marvellous woodcarvings, to futurist painter and architect Ivo Pannaggi, whose decors turned Casa Zampini into an
extraordinary one-off artwork: his theory of everyday life translated into art ultimately made real.
All these artists lived in different times, but they share the same rule-defying creativity, which has always found
breeding ground here in Esanatoglia. The eclectic artist Renato Zero is an honorary citizen of the town.
