CH_WSF09Relationship to other communitiesRelated to CH_WSF02 (Hinterland Blackbutt - Bangalow - Turpentine Wet Shrubby Tall Forest) and at timeswill transition to CH_WSF02 with increasing fertility. Indicators of this transition are decreasing frequency ofSmooth-barked Apple (Angophora costata) and increasing frequency of Bangalow Palm (Archontophoenixcunninghamiana). CH_WSF09 can also transition to CH_RF11 (Escarpment and Lowland Bangalow – Carabeen -Black Booyong Palm Gully Rainforest) with increasing wetness and less exposure or alternatively may transitionto CH_DOF01 (Coast and Escarpment Blackbutt Dry Forest) or CH_DOF05 (Foothills Grey Gum – Ironbark- Mahogany Dry Forest) as moisture decreases and exposure increases. CH_WSF09 is closely associated withCH_WSF08 (Southern Foothills Blackbutt - Turpentine - Tallowwood Wet Ferny Forest ) and is replaced by thiscommunity in the Bongil Bongil / Bonville area. The presence of Smooth-barked Apple (Angophora costata) as asub-dominant or dominant canopy species is a strong indicator for CH_WSF09.EquivalentsBiometric:(NR120).Blackbutt - Tallowwood moist ferny open forest of the coastal ranges of the North CoastOther: N7 – Moist Blackbutt (Fisher et al. 1996).LocationsKnown examples include Anderson’s Road in Nana Creek State Forest, Plum Pudding Road Conglomerate StateForest, Jesse Simpson Road on the Coast Range (Wedding Bells State Forest), Mount Coramba and Big Boambee.Page 130Vegetation Mapping of the Coffs Harbour Local Government Area
